If you're going to drop $250 or wahtever for a PSP, you had damned well better get a unit that has a quality reflecting the price. Meaning no dead pixels.

What world are you living in? For $250 you get an amazing, revolutionary piece of gaming kit. I don't see any other companies offering anything like it in terms of techincal ability and backing of games developers. If you look at the (frankly amazing) screen on a PSP churning out some vibrant, fast gfx, and all you see is the few minute dead pixels then I truly feel sorry for you.

Some people are never pleased :duh:

So negative. Half empty glass anyone?

I challange you to actually go and have a play with a PSP, and see if you can spot the dead pixels. Then tell me if you honestly think it is a big deal.

I bet practically all of the people complaining about dead pixels wouldn't want to return their units for a full refund, apart from those who would want to return it for other reasons anyway.

on any device i've used that had any amount of dead pixels, it has bothered me a lot. it would be no different with the PSP for me.

stop being a retard fanboy and accept that dead pixels on a panel this size in a device at this price, should be free of them.

My challenge was to try one first, and then claim that it was a big problem. Come back when you have tried one. Thanks.

I just can't see how anyone could be so anal about a couple of pinprick size bits of light. When you buy a PSP you are getting A LOT for your money. You can't even see the duff pixels FFS.

    p.s.
Go easy on the insults pal. It doesn't do you any favours.

No, he's right, you do come off like a bit of a fanboy, and frankly, hes right. For a panel that size, at that price, there should be no dead pixels.
You don't have to "try one" to know what a dead pixel is like.
Sometimes screens are duff, we all accept that. But for enough users to complain like this....it says "cheap", and the device isn't.

    Try one. Seriously.

I admit I'm a fanboy in so far as I'm a big fan of this product. Everybody I've shown it to, family, friends, my middle aged female boss, they all think it's amazing. That makes them all fanboys?

Sorry, but fanboys would side with it cos it's a playstation. I'm siding with it for what it is in it's own right. A Fanboy is someone who exalts a product based on the company that has brought it out, not because the product is good.

I CBA with this thread anymore, you don't even know what you are talking about. Out of 3 people on this thread who have got a PSP, 2 say that the dead pixels aren't a problem and the other doesn't have any. The rest of you aren't even willing to accept my challenge of actually trying the product before slating it. Who's the fanboy now?

If you don't want to buy a PSP then don't. If you do, and it has too many dead pixels then get Sony to change it. If you do get one, and it has a few dead pixels then I can pretty much guarantee that after you have played with it for a couple of hours, you won't really give a toss anymore.

S'ok man. I didn't bother replying properly 'cos:
Now *I* can't be bothered with this thread, as you have turned it from a good discussion to a parody of one.

i already told you. every device i've used that has had dead pixels has bothered me extremely. be it a mobile phone, a digital camera, whatever, they didn't stay in my hands for long.

now, why would the PSP be an exception? because it looks nice? because i *want* it to be?

also, sony won't swap out a device if it has less than about 5 DPs.

don't get me wrong. the PSP looks intriguing. but i'm not getting one until the 2nd or 3rd revision.

btw, how's that square button treating ya?

As a PSP user, I think I should be able to offer an experienced opinion on the matter. And that opinion is the same as 100% of the other PSP users on this thread and that is that the deal pixel issue is really nothing worth complaining about. I like to think that the bit tech frequenters are a bit more clued-up than the average "user", and the ones who are complaining are probably on a par with those who complain about getting fat after eating macdonalds constantly. Most of the people complaining about it don't even own a PSP! Ludicrous.

The exception is that you can't even see the dead pixels. The nature of the PSP screen, and more importantly, the nature of the moving graphics displayed on it, means that it's really hard to even see them. Square button is fine thanks.

You must be able to see it to know its there :p

personally i think that its a fault that could cheeked in manufacturing especially on a screen that size and for a large number people to have complained it must be farley noticeable.

It is hard to see them, even when you are looking. A lot of them are the sort that only show up on a black background, which you only see for about 20 seconds when a game is loading.

Nice one :) There probably are a few dead pixels in your class but as you said, you can't notice them ;)

That changes the figures based on my sample of people in this thread with PSPs.

It's now at 7 users (with phantomxc about to join us), 100% of whom say it doesn't matter.

Are there any other non-users who want to complain?

And yet here you are, bucking the trend....
No. the only thing ludicrous is that you think that the people COMPLAINING about something they feel strongly about would be the same people who would go out and blow their money on a product they have an issue with?! Where is the logic is that?

I would be willing to bet all the people complaining are non-users who have researched the item fully and discovered the issues before running out and blindly throwing money around because the unit has the word "Sony" or "PSP" printed on it. I have seen at least one rational arguement here where the user states that they like the idea and the product (as do I) but will wait until 2nd or 3rd Generation before purchasing. Think it through........

So where is the problem then? Wait for your PSP. Let us enjoy ours now. Stop complaining about it, at least until you have one. No one is making you buy anything.

    Lol, quality thread. :D

Chris is right though, if I bought a PSP and it had a few dead pixles, it wouldn't bother me at all, yes I don't own one (YET). Take his challenge up, and go try one, then come back and tell us. If you're still not happy with it, then fine, atleast you've tried it. And not judging the PSP by what you've read on a pc screen.
