I have a Sony Trinitron monitor that all of the sudden started displaying everything in shades of green. Everything was veiwable except for seeing everything as if it was a huge Palm screen. I put it in storage and pulled it out recently to use for loading another rig. The video was fine so I decided to use it for my Dreamcast. It worked a few days then went back to the green shades. Is this fixable? I apologize if this is not the correct forum but it seemed like the closest match.
It's a 15 incher I don't remember the manufacture date, but it is old. I'll get the model number and manufacture date once I get home in a couple of hours.
Holy cow, it is from June 1994! It is a Model 15SF. If it can't be fixed I'll look for another one. I just really liked playing the Dreamcast on a monitor over a television.
try measuring ath the back of the tube (??) where the connections is... it is a PCB there... find the three pins for each color.. i think those should be about 100 volts.. (not sure though) it could be the resistors/transistors(??) on that PCB that is blown... they are the ones that handles the power in you'r TV... (exept for the inverter)... a pic. would be helpful...
I'll see if I can take it apart. I never have done so before but I am going to have to learn if I want to paint my main rig monitor. I have been slowly modding the case and don't know when I will get a chance to take it apart. Maybe on monday. Thanks for the help! case I am modding...
there is two things you should know before taking apart a monitor/TV: 1: be careful not to hit the glass tube with something it's fragile! the back cover can easily break it it you drop it.. 2: the TV have pretty high voltage (27000v i think ) and it have a few capacitors aswell.. so watch you'r fingers... (guess how i figured THAT out )
I had the same problem with my Iiyama a few weeks ago, but everything was in shades of purple, so it was the green that wasn't being displayed. I don't it's that hard to fix, well, I send it to their repair service just to be sure, but ...
Well whenever I have had this problem it is the cable going from the computer to the monitor that has gone itimitant if it is detachable just buy a new one if not just either right it off or resolder another cable on.
Okay, sorry I took so long but here it is: Here is the inside of the monitor: And here is a simulation of my desktop that shows what I see when I connect the monitor to my rig. Desktop normal (good monitor): And what the trinitron displays (bad monitor): Hope this helps some. If you guys can't help don't worry about it but any good suggestions are welcome.
looks kinda cool. prob on it's way out, monitors aren't too bad n e more, u can get a good one for well under £100
I modified the colors in photoshop. Rich_13: Yeah they are cheap and I can get another 15" Dell used monitor for about $30 US. I just wanted the experience if it is possible to fix.
