My parents have a bravia TV model number KDL-V40A12U and is just over a year old, and there is a slight problem with it, wondering if any of you could give me an opinion on what might be up with it. The problem is when watchin broadcast TV or sky, when somehting moves on screen it leaves a distinct red and orange pattern where it was, this has only started to happen in the last week or so, i was thinking there is something up with the refresh rate on it, but no idea tbh as i have never expierenced this problem before! let me know your thoughts on this!

    thanks!

    Sony makes bad product..
I have a Sony CRT (not wide screen) (the last model they made), and sometimes you have to battle to close the TV (after a year).. like you press the power button on the remote or TV, and it turn back on right away...

Other stupidities, but that was there since the begging, when you go to a video mode with component cable (as it is the only mode that supports it), and you set your TV, (in the menu) as Wide screen, it set it fine, but the second you close the TV or change video's mode, it loses the settings.
So when I set my Wii as 480i widescreen, everytime I use my Wii, I have to go to the options and set the video mode to widescreen.
And the gray silver'ish remote is turning yellow, and it was never put in direct sun light for a long period of time.

Actually, Sony, like many manufacturers out there, generally make quite good TV's. Once someone has something wrong with one unit, it seems that everyone has something bad to say about that same manufacturer :hehe:!

But in all seriousness and regarding the issue your parents are having with their unit, sounds odd. A little over a year old, and this is happening? Does it happen with any other colors? You stated watching broadcast TV or sky. Is sky a company? Forgive my ignorance, as I'm in the colonies ;), and this Sony unit looks like a UK model so I'm merely speculating. Now, broadcast TV...is it in high-def? If not, the only thing I can think of is the fact that you're running a significantly lower res signal into the TV that is upgrading said low-res signal for display at it's native res, and by doing so is adding pixels/information that isn't technically there. Does that make sense?

yeah first thing thats very true about one thing going wrong then everyone saying they have had something wrong with a "insert manufactorer here" product. anyway sky is a company, provides satalite(sp) TV.

yeah tv is exactly 1year and 4 months old and the problem started around 4/5 days ago. NO the broadcast is not in hig def, and i know what your on about it being a lower res signal and the tv having to fill in pixels, studied it at uni in a class ;)

cos this only started a week ago, i very much doubt it will be that, mainly because we would have noticed it well before now, so what im going to do is check the connectors, Ariel and other sources, like the sky box, change the Ariel incase its that. then see if it improves any, if not goin to send it to the sony repair centre- hopefully they can fix it!
