Hey wondering if anyone can help me,

My PC is acting weird, all of a sudden my audio codecs or something aren't working as I can't access the control panel for them, and the volume control is saying no device is installed?

It was there one second then gone the next?

    Any ideas?

Onboard or not? Does it come up in control panel?

Sounds like either the sound board's dead, or it's disabled via the BIOS.

    If on XP:
    - Shut-down the computer, and turn back on (no reboot).
    - Re-install sound card drivers (uninstall them first, and reboot, then install it)
    - check for virus.
    - device could be broken
    - change PCI-slot.
    - mobo can be broken.

First goto device manager and check for any driver faults.

    Ok,

The sound comes back now and then if I re-install the drivers, but then disappears.
It is on-board sound on a8n-deluxe
I will uninstall and re-install drivers, but have an assignment to do at the mo so will do that shortly and post results.

Sounds like the sound controller is on its way out Tibby, I'd pick up a cheap Audigy or something on eBay and replace it. I had an onboard do that, and it's not fun to keep messing around with it. :(

Not a fan of ebay, anyone got anywhere I can order one from online?

Or I might just buy a new fecking mobo, as I am thinking of going over to core duo.

Ebuyer have lots in stock. Try OCUK as well, they might have something cheap that you fancy. :)
