I found two pretty nice speakers with brackets for ceiling mounting hidden away today...i already have a sub and two front speakers, so i wanna hook my new finds up as rear speakers so i get 4.1 surround...my only problem is that the "new" speakers have bare wire leads, can anyone help me connect these to my audigy platinum?

You should be able to solder the leads to a plug like this. (Both sets of cables into on connector, might be fiddly as speaker cables tend to be a bit thicker than the space available in the connector.

Radio Shack should have one of these...

Although without an amp, you might find that the soundcard will be struggling to power them..

You will definately need an amp. A soundcard is capable of driving a load of around 200ohms. A regular speaker is 4-8 ohms. Lots of people who don't know what they're talking about think "great! lower resistance is easier!". Not true...lower resistance is harder to drive, since it requires more current to get the same power (the relationship is that Power = Current x Current x Resistance, so if you reduce the resistance, current goes up twice as much). This is why you need a large, powerful amp to drive proper hifi speakers, because the amp has to provide a lot of current, and this is difficult to do.

oh well, i'll probably just save up for logitech's 5.1 system (z-560's or something) and if i can make enough $$ i'll get the klipsch. It'll be easier that way
