Windows SP2 to instal or not to install

    iv heard allot of controversy about SP2 and now that windows update has it downloaded im wondering if i hould install it. is it worth the trouble? :confused:

    Go ahead and install it but make a back up instead. It has tons of security features etc.

    First off, If you have a hacked windows theme, TURN IT OFF. If you have stylexp applied, TURN IT OFF.
    Turn all hacks off and then apply sp2.

    I once had a windows theme hack on and when I applied it, I could not get into windows because the screen was black.

    I did hit an issue on one machione which required a bios update to fix. However this is very rare.

    Strange - I had a 'different' uxtheme.dll file and it reset itself to XP's default scheme after applying SP2.

    Only problem I have with SP2 is with downloading files. It comes up with a request every time, which you click to allow download, then it has to invariably load the page again for the file to start downloading.

    Mine was fine. Just had to get the new SP2 uxtheme.dll....

    Overall Id say SP2 seems worth it.

    wouldn't advice it on your main rig, I'm doing a new rig and its going on.
