I didn't watch the video in sound... I didn't really need to to lip read. Eitherway... I see Ork Weirdboyz, Orkz getting owned, Chaos Space Marine's INCLUDING A Dark Apostle halfway through... Bloodshed! Winning! =D Combat system looks decent aswell... Kinda made me think GOW Style, then made me think who cares lets weild the biggest chainaxe possible. What is making me think is if they're going to do a karma slider like they did in Chaos Rising? Such as using Chaos based weapons would corrupt your Marine etc... Be nice to see but hey!
Mmm, very nice! Been keeping an eye on this for a while now. One of my main concerns was that they'd make the ranged weapons underpowered and it would be primarily a melee game. Well, actually it is primarily a melee game, but it appears that ranged weapons are just as good!
Have to say the animations look epic. This game was on my watch list anyway, i'll still wait for reviews on it before I commit to spending cash monies on it
By the way, has it been removed from Steam? I can't find it now. Hmm, did a bit of searching and it says it's not available in my region.
If you preorder from either GAME or Gamestation you will get it, along with Space Wolves, Emperor's Children and Iron Warriors.
Good decision probably, they were laying it on a bit thick. The animations etc look pretty cool but I'm a little skeptical tbh. It didn't exactly look massively deep from what they showed.
Massively deep? What did you expect, some epic along the same lines of Mass Effect 2 or something? This is 40k. The storyline already shows more twists and turns than a ski slope. Leave the deep stuff to their Black Library!
Apply Bolt Pistol to left hand, Chainsword to the right... thats the deepest it gets with Relic... although Relic not using the Blood Raven's and using the pin-up marines Ultramarines is an odd decision me thinks!
Hopefully there'll be a mod to reskin the Boringmarines to something else. Black Templars, for example. Especially considering it's a melee based game, seems weird to have Mr. Prim&Proper leading the stabbing.
It's based on WHERE you order, not the TYPE. So that's for CE and normal. Who said it's melee-based? It's equal measures of both.
Lol I just meant in terms of the combat system. I dunno maybe it was just too much to ask for more than a standard hack n slash.
Perhaps, but perhaps not. It seems the transition from ranged to melee combat is pretty much spot on. Whilst a cover system isn't really used, bear in mind you're more likely to die quicker when OUT of combat than in it, according to the designers. Also, weapon customisation as well as co-op should make this awesomesauce I've already got a mod idea in mind, and I will definitely follow it up upon release. The idea is simple. Take the 5-man co-op, and drop them in a situation reminiscent to Dawn of War 2's The Last Stand game mode. 5 space marines take on bigger and bigger waves of enemies Horde mode for 40k anyone?
Pretty much everything I've seen about it either shows the main character stabbing, punching, or running at something. I assumed, really, that it was going to be primarily a melee game based on what I'd seen. I guess I was also fooled by "Captain Titus and a squad of Ultramarine veterans use bolter and chainsword to take the fight to the enemies of mankind ."
Judging from the mayhem, death and destruction that the plasma cannon and heavy bolter unleash... yeah, I'm happy with what the shooty bits should provide
You even mention bolters in your melee line. That's how intertwined they are Look at the video properly. Lascannons, Plasma guns, Boltguns (multiple versions), Bolt Pistols, Plasma Cannon, Heavy Bolter, Meltaguns, melta bombs, ... The list is not exhaustive either. 40k is both ranged and combat. Despite what the devs say, you can bet your backside guns will play just as well as melee. I imagine both melee and ranged weapon choices are not just limited to what you see in the videos either My expectation is to see Storm Bolters, Storm Shields, Terminator Armour, Power weapons, missile launchers, assault cannons, flamers...
+fap fap fap fap fap fap+ Sorry couldn't hear you over the sound of fapping from the entire community. That's such a wicked idea aswell... just constant hordes of Ork's running into my Heavy Bolter... Yess!
They've surely gotta have made their own horde mode. The lore is probably the best suited to it (aside from zombies).
