Original story Normally I'm accused of being a supporter of the nanny-state, but I have to say I think this goes too far, even for me!
I agree, sheesh. There wasn't a single other factor that could be attributed to the nest abandonment, such as the tremors California is so famous for? If the birds were endangered species, I might be more sympathetic to their argument.
I thought this was going to be about the calif. fires not some dumb bird it bad parenting on the birds part
I have to say I'm all for protecting the birds, but, it says there that they were required to get a permit, and didn't attempt to? (from what i gather) which seems like they're cutting their nose off to spite their own face a little. RwD
I agree if the group didn't get the required permit, the onus is on them. But the overall uproar about the birds is rather ridiculous.
You know, the east coast of Florida has a very large wildlife population. Every time we launch one of our big rockets, with a blast force strong enough to hurl bricks a couple miles, I'm amazed at how the birds and other animals never seems that bothered by it. If they can deal with a rocket launch so powerful that we need a steam cloud to prevent the sonic waves from disintegrating the tower, I'm sure the coastal birds of California can deal with 15 minutes of fireworks. -monkey
