    Hello,
Someone gave me some speakers that they didn't want. problem is that they are missing a cable. So I went out and bought a splitter because the speakers need a left and right channel input.
If I plug them into the headphone jack on my old speakers I can hear sound coming from them. but its so quiet that you need your head right next to the speaker.
If i plug them into my computer, I get nothing at all.
So I know that the speakers work (in theory) and I know that the cables all work. but I am still not getting sound.
Any thoughts? here are some pics:

Can you slim those pics down a bit? 1024*768 is plenty big enough for most uses. :thumb:

    sure, I made them smaller.
    So any ideas, anyone?
I wonder if its because they have a built in amp. but that shouldn't make a difference.

Oh great NexxTech Cables... I don't like to say anything bad about a specific company on a forum specially when it is not really the topic, but this is THE exception. If you don't want to read this, please skip to "BACK to your subject".

I used to work at the Source... as a summer job. My Manager said, "if you buy the store brand (NexxTech/Evolution/Centrios) and you go home and the product works, that is a manufacture error". And he is right, the quantity of returned cables and product is just extraordinary. It was impossible to get commissions as you had so many returns. Well you did with (I really can't believe people decide to get it) extended warranties on freaking cables. If I remember correctly, the store cost of that cable is 0.06$ Canadian. I AM SO NOT KIDDING. It says it on the computer when you scan the price to know the sell price.

Try exchanging your cable and adapter with other, or go to the dollar shop and save a bundle.

yeah I know the parts are junk. i only bought them because i wanted something that i could use to verify if the speakers actually work. which i have done when i plugged them into the headphone jack on my old speakers. I just dont understand why they dont work when the signal is coming from the computer.
did i get the wrong kind of adapter?

Is is possible that the input to the speakers just isn't high enough? I figured that because they have an internal amp that it would just need a signal, maybe I am wrong on that.

    edit:
I suspect that there is something wrong with the amp that is built into the speaker. I finally got my old mp3 player working. i had to crank the volume up to max on the speakers and the mp3 player to be able to hear it. it kind of sucks that someone would give away speakers that dont work.
maybe i will take them apart and mod my own speakers out of it.
    any ideas anyone?
