As the title says, whenever my screen on the desktop is switched on, I get a weird buzzing / fuzzing sound, which gets louder for the lonnger the screen is on. The screen is a 17" flat panel, which does have onboard speakers, altthough I don't use them, i use a set of 5.1's, which seem to be emitting the noise..

Basically, this noise is driving me insane, the usual check on the cables, untanglinng / unplugging / reinserting, as yet, to no avail

    Any ideas?

maybe a bad earth somewhere and the increasing buzzing is an inability to discharge

I assume your speakers are shielded and a reasonable distance from the monitor

worth moving the speakers around to see if it alters, if not it could be a soundcard issue, also get an extension cable and plug the mains cable for the monitor into a different wall socket across the room, you may have a ring main issue

OK, looks like today is going to be a busy day...looking for new sockets and all. The computer and speakers and the lamp are on one extension, but the screen uses it's own wallsocket. Aside from that, I've replaced all the power cables with no luck, so today's task is to switch round the wallsockets being used.

The things I do for peace and quiet:rolleyes:

just try muteing the mic, and all other sources that you dont use.
