My Fenrir was no issue with my Corsair memory, so I think its a Dominator only issue.

Ok, I have taken the advice and swapped in the tranquillo. All I need to decide on now is the memory. The memory selection on scan is pretty piss poor, so I dont mind getting it elsewhere.

The Gskill Pete linked is quite pricey isnt it? Is there a slightly cheaper alternative or is that as cheap as it gets?

Also think I am gonna scrap the fractal r2. Its nice but if i get 1600mhz ram the price is going to be nearer to 650 than 600. Is there a decent case thats sort of midway between the antec 300 and the fractal r2? Again doesn't have to be from scan.

Cheers for the fantastic help guys

Not that I'm aware of. But the two are night and day. One is budget, high-airflow. The other is extremely quiet. If you don't care about noise, just get the 300. There's nothing wrong with it. If you do care about noise, get the R2. Simple.

Thats that then, my PC at the moment sounds like a whale having a heart attack so noise isn't an issue. So just one thing to decide on. The memory!

    Cheers

If you're getting the 300, go for 1600mhz RAM. Corsair XMS will be fine from Scan.

That should be fine. You're right - Scan's memory selection sucks, because they have an exclusivity deal with Corsair - but the issue is that if you only buy the memory from elsewhere, paying shipping on that one item will be poor value. Try eBuyer (free shipping) for alternatives.

Almost, but Jerry's still got some work to do. Keep checking prices for equivalent parts and other retailers all the way up until the 12th, always a chance to save a bit of cash or get a little extra performance... who knows what the 5850 will cost by the 12th ;)

For Windows 7 take a look at http://www.software4students.co.uk/ which will give you a much better price than getting the OEM version
