Been using the same Kenwood combi-oven microwave for 8+ years and it looks no worse for wear.

I'd steer away from the budget models. We get a lot donated to the charity and 90% (that's conservative) of the budget models fail electrical safety tests - even those that are only a couple of years old.

1.21 gigawatts and big enough to fit the biggest pizza in from your pizzeria of choice.

that goes for most houses as well, there's a whole world of debate about safety tests, and another world of debate about what kind of garbage passes when new

Im not going to start it

Given the state of the pizzas round here, I need to be at hydration level 4 before I'll eat one :hehe:

Ours died on us a good while back and after a while we just came to the conclusion we don't actually need one.

    Not missed it TBH.

Now you'd be taking my rice cooker out of my cold dead hands. :)

Don't worry, we have rice cooker and its bigger brother a pressure cooker. Also a soup maker and some sort of steaming thing.

I'm going to repair it, it's only a broken button. I've taken it apart, measured the button and ordered 10 replacement buttons for £1.60. This Sainsbury's cheapest hopefully lives to microwave a couple more years.

But my wife is now keen on the idea of a shiny new Panasonic 800w with grill function from JL........

Speaking of beeps, I was driven mad by mine, as it'd go off periodically when its done, until I realised it went offf every minute! Perfect for the 'leave to stand for 1 minute' timing! Makes me think why all microwaves don't do it!!!! Now I don't think I could live without it!

Mine keeps the fan running for exactly a minute after it stops, and if you need more than a minute there's a "delay/stand" button. You can chain a program, too: 5 minutes on, stand for two, then four minutes at half power...

You follow microwave heating instructions :jawdrop:
For me it's always add a minute to the 'cooking' time and leave until it only just scalds the roof of your mouth.

Thread update. I fixed the start button problem by replacing it with a new 6x6mm Momentary button.

Problem solved, Microwave works like new. Wife is happy to have reliable working microwave, but slightly sad that it's the same old one :grr:

This is the holy grail of microwaves, frankly. Which one was it? I've seriously considered dismantling ours and ripping out the little speaker.
