After being out of the PC parts market for a while, I'd appreciate a hand picking components here I'm moving back to my parents' for a few months while I save for my own place in London, and I'd like to get back into Starcraft II again (my 11" MacBook Air just doesn't have the grunt). As a result of the moving target, the rig should be as cheap as physically possible, - max I can afford to spend is around £300-400, so I'll be delving into the Marketplace/eBay soon enough! I still have a keyboard, mouse, PSU and three 1920x1200 displays from my previous rig, so all that's needed is the system components. I'll mainly be using the rig for remote working, with some very light gaming, no OC so I'd guess a non-K CPU would be appropriate? Cheers in advance!
Gah, forgot to add, I have three 24" 1920x1200 displays gathering dust. Gaming will most likely be single-display.
I wouldn't exclude 'k' chips completely - you might find a bargain within the MP. But - a non OC board will be cheaper (in the case of Intel, a non 'Z--' series board. Chuck a GPU and half decent CPU in an H-series ITX board and you'll be laughing. I've seen a couple of fairly reasonably-priced Z8H77-I (Asus) boards go past on eBay recently.
any other game than SCII ? This one is not very demanding, here is for your res : An inexpensive HD7750 would do the job . About the motherboard, I do not know but I guess you can find an Asus H77-I for not to much @Jinq: you ninja'd me about the mobo xD
