    From el Reg:

Since we Brits already hold the land speed record as a result of jet-powered Thrust SSC going supersonic in 1997, it seems only natural that we should attempt to be the first nation to break the sound barrier with a petrol-driven reciprocating-engined vehicle.

That at least appears to be what sales manager Peter O’Flynn was attempting when clocked at an impressive 406mph by a speed camera in Cheshire.

    Full story here

This is as good as the story of the speeding traction engine! :D

Didnt they once take a reading of a jet fighter? The fighter thought it was a missle tracking it and locked onto this policeman

The camera wouldn't have been able to catch him if he was doing 406mph, I remember Top Gear did a test where if you went so fast(under 200mph I think) the camera weren't fast enough to take the picture.

I don't know if its true or not but I heard the reason that most european cars are limited to 155mph is that speed cameras don't work above those kind of speeds.

been through a speed camera at around 160 once, never went off
i have heard that the figure is as low as 135mph and as high as 200mph for speed cameras not to work, hell knows what it is
(edit: i wasn't driving, i'm not that much of an idiot)

i have a mate that used to have an RC car that supposedly does 70mph, but never could get it to set off a speed camera, even in a 30 zone, probably too small for the camera to take notice :worried:

i fail to understand why this guy is supposedly being prosecuted, despite the obvious mess up

naa more like 1.5 hours. ( i know your only JKin about the 10sec thing. but u kinda put it in perspective how fast he was suposedly going)

he could get from bham to cornwall in 30 mins. instead of the average of 2 hrs(1.5hrs if its dead 2 if its school holiday time)
