I'm not attempting to hijack this thread. However my summons was saying I overtook on "double" solid white lines, checked google maps and in person on the exact spot "I was caught with no evidence" and well there is only one very very small solid white line on one side of a road.

The officers statement doesn't mention the fact he tried and failed to accuse me of speeding, or my visor which he wrote me up on as not road legal even "road legal" was printed on the visor on a sunny day...

and then his statement was ended with "!!!!!!!!"

I'm hoping I get a course but the way my luck is I'll lose my licence and be fined the maximum penalty...

I was actually told I should've recieved a driving course last year however I never did, so my mitigating circumstances include this vital information lol.

Some traffic police forget that just because someone pointed out a vehicle doesn't mean it's the right one when you stop them 5 miles away from the area in heavy traffic. (not that I was going to argue, was interested what he had to say and to be fair, traffic course sounded like an interesting talk lol)

    This.

I went through a completely empty, just changed to red light at night due to only seeing the traffic light at very last moment as yellow, thought it had just changed to yellow. Got stopped by police car a moment later for going through red light and accused me of speeding up for it. I had cruise control on the whole way!

Anyway, my TS10 from Dec 2012 had made my insurance premium jump up by roughly a third.

Also, my parked car was written off in Nov 2013 because a drunk came down the road too fast and smashed into it. My insurance premium also increased by about 1/4 for this police verified non-fault, all claimed on third party incident.

End of the day, trying to get cheap insurance is a lost cause. They have you over a barrow. Just pay up for the next 5 years or so until it drops off your NCD record.

Send off the info yesterday, I would prefer not taking a summons for the sake of a heavier fine.

You learn, i drive a lot slower. probably saved myself £5 on petrol in the few days just by driving gentle.

I feel like this isn't the end and i might be standing up in court like a bad boy

I wouldn't worry to much, I'd expect that to be 3 points and a fine.

Plead not guilty and point that out when your summons comes.

Anyway you you could do worse than check out pepipoo.com for advice about speeding and parking issues.

I know that everyone hates the insurance companies, but I REALLY, REALLY can't stand them with the kind of **** that they pull on everyone.

If I was less lazy, I'd lead a revolution against them and burn their offices to the ground.

I've not experienced that. I've had SP30s on my licence on two seperate occasions over my driving career and it's not affected my insurance by a single penny. My last lot only came off a year ago too, so fairly recent.

I'm pretty sure 6 points and up, you'll be paying for it mind you.
