First let me say I did a search and had no luck with it.

Title is the problem I am having.

    I have an HP dv7-1175nr
    Seen here: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv7-1175nr/4507-3121_7-33360957.html?tag=mncolBtm;rnav

Ever since I started having this problem, I can no longer print from my laptop. Windows update doesn't fix it. "Check online for a solution" does nothing. I am left at a stand still here and don't know what to do. :wallbash:

If anyone has any experience with this problem please share some input for me. I thank all who take the time to look.

Uninstall your printer drivers, restart your computer.
Now, ensure that the service: spooler is up and running.

If it is, you are ready to reinstall your printer drivers.

When I go into Control Panel > Printer, none of them show up. I deleted all of them I could find off of the HDD but some are still on there. I can see them when I open up Microsoft Word and go to select a printer. The error to close the app appears at start up

    Ok,
    1- close all programs
    2- stop PC:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS service.
    3- Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
4- Now, delete all files inside PRINTER folder, DO NOT delete the folder, just the folder content.
5- Start the printer spooler service
    6- restart your computer.

Everything should be back to normal, like if you never installed a printer.
If so, install your printer again, and it should work.

    Actually my mistake WhiteKnight226.
I type to quickly without re-reading myself.

    Here is the correct steps:
    1- close all programs
2- stop the Print Spooler service.

    3- Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS

4- Now, delete all files inside PRINTER folder, DO NOT delete the folder, just the folder content.

5- Look around Device and Printer panel, to make sure that your printer is not there, unplug your printer USB and turn it off, and uninstall any software that came with your printer.

6- Use CCleaner,to clean your sytsem and registry, run 2-3 scans on the registry until it doesn't find anything anymore.

7- Start the Printer Spooler service

    8- restart your computer.

To Start or Stop a service, it's actually easy:
Start > type: services > Select the item in the search result Servcies
It will open a nice panel. On that panel, search for the service, in this case Print Spooler, and double click on it. A new panel will pop-up. You will see a big button called Stop, click on it. To Start it back, simply click on the Start button.

Hope this is more clear, and hope this works.

    Thank You

Ok Goodbytes, I am up and running again. Thank you so much. Printers are now showing up again in Control Panel > Printers and I can print. This being my computer for college, you were a life saver. Much love and rep lol. Hope this doesn't happen again, knock on wood!
