I think I like this game alot, or will like it alot. Just seems like a very fun game. This weekend I watched a 35 minute video on spore off google videos but now I cant find the one I watched. Heres a link to the hour long one http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-262774490184348066&q=spore

Looks like a sweet game, cant wait for a release.

Wowzers. That looks absolutely fantastic. I'm really hoping this won't become another sims, because I'd hate to hate what looks like it's going to be a revolutionary experience.

My one worry about this game is that it looks like if one stage was really boring or repetitive, it might mar the rest of the game. They're going to have to balance it really well, or make each stage compelling and innovative compared with the previous, to assure that people don't end up hating the game just because of a specific section.

Btw, nice to see all the clickables at the end! :)

I am wondering what the system specs gone be toplay this game? Ether pretty high couse everything runs from the CPU or average couse most comes from the server. Dos anyone know something about that?
Anyway i look forward to play it, i just love the whole concept.

Well, it looks very much like they had AA off from the enlarged screen antiHero. So I would assume it's running pretty shabbily right now. I think it can be instantly assumed that servers will not be expected to be doing lot's of work, that just wouldn't be a model a publisher would like.

this games scope seems absolutely vast.

if anybody remmbers SimLife it reminds me of that in many ways, cept with SimCity and Civilization amongst other things thrown into the mix...amazing, but i gotta ask...is this game gunna be like 30gig??! theres never been a game with so much scope, how could u ever get board.....i simply cant wait.

They are saying that basically everything in the game is procedurally generated, as in generated by the computer on the fly, so it is quite possible that the game install will be fairly small. For example, there is a 3D program called MojoWorld that generates entire planets using procedural methods. The save files for these entire highly detailed planets are usually 250-650KB.

Maybe I am just not getting this game but I dont see why its so hyped and fantastic. I agree the technology and concept of the game are unique and pritty amazing. But I dont understand the objective of the game at all. I try to think of it in a sim city type of way but I just dont see it at all.
Little creatures running about making little radar graphics at eachother seems to be all thats in the game. I think alot of people would spend an hour or so on this game on their own world. play another hour on someone elses world that they downloaded, and then never touch the game again.
I am much more excited about UT2007, Warhammer Online and various other multiplayer games.

i definately think if this game was online in realtime with other players and if we could interact and visit their worlds and galaxys, it would definately be allot more fun.

Indeed. For a real example of how Procedural Generation is your friend, check out some of the work by Farb-Rausch, like .the .product (zip file hosted on scene.org, 64Kb) and Poem To A Horse (Also 64Kb), And these are 6 years old now.

It looks pretty good to me

but it sounds to me like it will get boring really fast - you know, how much can you do a similar thing

Plus its made by EA, so i wouldnt be suprised if they balls it up

I am going to order it right now from amazon. Yeah right! It's already listed there.

I played SimCity till the beginning and The Sims 1+2 was a lot of fun too. BTW, Sims 2 is still alot of fun here and then.

I expect SPORE to be a really great game, with a huge amount of features.

I don't really know, if you "haters" got that right, but it will be possible to interact with the "races" that other people created, so there will be the chance for trading with and/or fighting against others. And that is the one point I miss in the Sims 2.

The thing I'm interested in is the 'massively single-player' concept - where I can get my friend's world that he's created and run amok in it - kinda like the multiplayer in black & white only without individual player power having to be nerfed for balance :D

I've still yet to see a mammalian creature, or an intelligent aquatic creature. I wonder if this is a limit of the game, or if Will Wright simply prefers land-dwelling reptiles...

In the video i watched a while back, the land changes from water/land when you remove fins/other aquatic features from the creature (and vice versa) so I'm guessing that so long as you kept these features in place then you would have an aquatic creature... I't be interesting to see how your aquatic creature could survive in space though, the ship would need to be like an anti submarine that could fly.... maybe it will alll be land based after a certain level!!
