    hello all.
i have an mp3 module for a handspring visor and the visor pda.
i managed to get the pnouts for the springboard port, is there anyway that i could hook the mp3 module up to a battery pack without the need for the bulky visor pda?!
    thanx.

    anyone?
someone must have some idea or a schematic that could be modified to fit this thing so the 3.3v's needed can be supplied?!! anyone?! come on!! help a noobie out!!
    thankies.

Is there a reason you cannot just put 3.3 volts into the "module vcc 3.3V" and hook all the grounds to ground? That might work, unless the mp3 module uses some of the internal circuitry of the pda(does the mp3 player use buttons on itself to control it or does it need the pda to control it). Knowing nothing about either the handspring visor or mp3 module, besides searching google, that is my best guess.

Depending on how picky the mp3 module is, you might be able to get away with just using 2 AA batteries for 3 volts.

    hey
    thank you for replying!!!
the module has its own play/bk/frwd/volume buttons, and the play button is used to turn it off too.
its the good technology mp3 module, would i need any resistors to protect the module or anything? i dont really wanna mess this up!
    thanx

I was reading a bit more about it online, you need to have handspring visor to transfer files onto it. It also looks like it has an on screen interface. It still might work without the handspring visor but I'm not too sure.

To see if this would work, put a 3.3 volt supply on the mp3 player after loading it with music while plugged into a handspring visor. For the 3.3 volts, you could try just 2 AA batteries, but if it picky about voltage then you need a regulated supply. that would require a voltage regulator(I'm not sure where to get one for 3.3 volts though).

You can use a few resistors and caps to change the voltage a regulator puts out, I just can't remember how to do that anymore :duh:
