Ist two images are screen clips, the 2nd two from my phone. Did you read that Russian review I posted as they pointed this out as well?

When I got this monitor I was worried about it, but It's just a drawback of this monitor type (btw, I'm no expert) and it reminds me of when I had a TN wayback. You've got to remember that in: "Steam, Battle.net launcher, various websites, some photos, & finally in game title screens and sometimes the sky in games like BF3 and WOW" are all using low resolution bitmaps.

Go to https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ and tell me if you see any banding, as I don't on my monitor. Also post links to the sites and photos that you see it on so we can compare.

Just d/led WoW for old time's sake - I get the same. IPS handles/blends this stuff better, but I'll take this over BLB any day.

The only possible other thing is that you've either A: not selected Full Dynamic Range in Nvidia CP (which you have) or 2: Your gamma settings are messed up and are exaggerating the effect or 3: You're concentrating too much on this issue (I can get like that). :) I've put up a post asking about this OC - hopefully somebody will confirm.

Oh.. and using other people's profiles - I wouldn't go near them...... none of them worked for me at all, like nowhere near right. This monitor has absolutely awful out of the box calibration - practically all of it's issues are caused by that poor calibration and that could easily make the banding worse.

Reset the monitor and spend some time doing it yourself - there's lots of free programs out there and Windows built in calibration is decent too.

    Hi Sal,

Once again, many many thanks for the very informative post. looks like you're getting all the same issues as me on WOW in the same places and the same for the Battle.net launcher steam ETC.

So exactly as you say it's me just being worried and looking into it to much. :) I can also confirm that all the settings you referred to are also at default value, or full in regards to NVIDIA dynamic range.

Will be interesting to see what reply you get on the OC post, but as you say the annoying colour banding issue is a far far better trade off than BLB!

Once again many thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Looks like nobody's biting on that thread. The banding reminds of when I had my last TN monitor ages ago.. kind of a step back really.

I wouldn't call it an 'issue' per-se - more a feature of the technology. It does bother me a bit however - I haven't looked into it, but max out the quality (as opposed to performance) settings for the affected game in NV control panel; and also look as SweetFX too. Apparently it can help with low resolution backgrounds in some way or another.

    GL :)
