    Hello all,

    I have just picked up a new pc, (Second hand) today and when i got it home its squeaking like mad and it's driving me crazy.

    Some specs;

    2.80GHz dual core Pentium D
    1gig DDR2 Nanya RAM (2x 512's)
    Motherboard: P5B-TMX-GB-Si
    PSU; Unsure.
    Says; Mesh computers on the front.

    Any idea on what it is.

    Thanks.

    Open it up while it is on and investigate with your ear; there's no way we're gonna know. Could be HDD, could be PSU, could be Optical Drive... you could even have yourself a mouse...

    We need to know what kind of squeaking it is.

    Is it a high-pitched electronic whine? A mechanical squeaking?

    Is it intermittent? Does it do it from cold, then go away? Or does it only do it when it's heated up?

    It isn't;

    Harddrive or Optical drive as these are the two things that didnt come with it (i already had them and they're fine)

    As soon as the PC is turned on at the plug it starts whining, i can't really explain the noise it just whines [even when the actual computer isnt powered up, just plugged in at the wall]

    One of the chokes in the power supply probably. Or bad capacitors. Do you have a spare PSU to test with?

    Sounds like the PSU.
    If you can, boot it up with another PSU. I bet it doesn't make the noise.
