So I recently upgraded my primary ssd to mushkin chronos dx, and moved my old callisto dx that was formerly my boot drive to a secondary drive retiring my old intel x-18m. I copied all the data from the old intel onto the callisto and it seemed to be fine. The problems started to present themselves after I woke the machine from sleep with the new disk arrangement. The data would be inaccessable to programs but I could still see the drive, browse files, but not make any changes. So I started checking and went into disk management where I noticed that it's status was marked as read only. I rebooted and was able to use the data for a short time, then it started having access errors, went back and it's in read only mode again...
So then I was able to get it functioning for a short time again by taking it offline and then to online. Eventually it will go into read only mode again after awhile. I tried to format it again and move some data on and it was fine for a couple reboots and next time I tried sleep again the same issue occured. I find this all strange as I had been using this drive as boot drive for quite awhile and never had any issues before. Another thing I noticed is that in bios it went from being labeld as "sata - model number" to "hdd - model number" not sure if that means anything.
Anyone else had this issue, and is it fixable or is the drive on it's way to the grave?

You could try resetting the bios maybe there is some weird option for it to do that.

Yes there is an option for disk write protection in my bios but it was already off. Also only one drive was doing the read only mode, not both so I am pretty certain its something internal to the ssd. Tried to do a secure erase but I can't get it out of this protected mode to do so.

If you have a diagnostic utility for the drive check it isn't failing as some SSDs go into read only mode instead of complete failure to make user data accessible.
Also I would swap SATA ports in case the motherboard drive controller is having problems.

I was finally able to get it to secure erase using a usb adapter. Have put some data on it and keeping an eye on it, but seems ok so far.
