I'm guessing the delays have made this game more of a "meh", and a humorous juxtoposition topic, much like Duke Nukem Forever.

Dont you guys proof read? pfft!

And the fact they said "We don't care what state the game ships in aslong as it ships" Reading that quote alone puts serious doubt about buying any of their games in the future.

I wanted to play this game so badly but if it's delayed like this I will just give up waiting for it and put my money on other games, completely retarded delaying it this long.

What engine was this thing supposed to run on, anyway? The demo shot looks like source, but if it's that old...

They developed their own "X-Ray" engine for the game. It has full DX9 suppport and most of the features of any other newer engine out there. Their AI ideas were looking interesting but probably ended up too complex to implement without a slow mess. The game looked really great a few years ago when they first released demo videos. The amount of foliage that they have going and the absolutly fantastic dynamic sky were very impressive, but unless it comes out soon it is really getting on in years.

Fantastic concept, poorly implemented. I played an early version of this in multiplayer and it was crap.

good concept an fps where you actualy live in an AI world and have to hunt/sleep ect. I was rearly looking forward to this one, but with that quote about undocumented code (trade mark of a bad devlopment team or one trying desperatly to hold onto their jobs) and the quote about just wanting it out of the door. I am not hopefull.

I speak russian and I have read the news about at stalker-portal.ru which has a direct quote from the manager.
The dev team was not slashed in half and half fired. From 40 people team 2 were sent to work RTS department, and 5 were fired.

I am also very dissapointed with such delayed release. It does get annoying.
As for dated graphics, for me gameplay will always prevail before graphics. I don't give a **** about dynamic shadows or extrapolating pixels that might run on my 7800 GTX. Maybe that is why I often replay old games. Yes the game might look old compared to new stuff, but if they got the gameplay finely tuned I am sure it still will be enjoyable experience.

Wasn't this the game where alpha code was leaked and somehow it was able to be run as a semi-game?

I remember seeing screenshots and videos and they looked very much like HL2, which tbh is no bad thing really.

I reckon that Infineon Labs should make an offer to THQ to buy STALKER up as one of the launch titles on the Phantom.

I am sad. I really hope this game launches and it's good. All the things I have read really make me want to play it. I just hope THQ doesn't decide to ship a buggy version, remeniscent of a certain Flight-sim that was only available in Wal-Mart a few years ago.....

This is a damned shame. This was looking like a great game, but it's obviously going down the pan.

I fear it might be a case of a development team not really pulling their weight, followed by anxious, money-grabbing management trying to push it out of the door.

Let's hope it gets resurrected and they crawl out of the pit.

Another good game ruined by another company. Much like EQ was ruined by sony. How many times do you need to reinvent the wheel?
