"even talk of incorporating citizenship rules such as paying tax"
Because paying tax is everyone's idea of fun.

C'mon, you could have mentioned the Bit-Tech fleet that we're setting up to play the game. Cunningly titled BitSec, we have a huge thread running already.

Looks like a great game and something I would want to play. It is a shame I hear about these games so long before their anticipated release date.
I have been following the repopulation game for 18 months now and hopefully that will come out this year.
But 2015 for star citizen, I have no idea what I will be doing in 18 months, I might have a family and not have time to play an MMO.

I have a family, i can confirm you still have some time for playing games. For instance if your baby goes bed by 8pm, and your partner throws on the only way is essex and aload of rubbish soaps, plus every crap reality show their is, what else you gonna do?

It's the ultimate (to date) development of Wing Commander; so yes, elite having being released six years earlier and a game of such great import will of course have influenced the original and all subsequent space sims from Chris Robberts.

Clone is probably pushing it a bit though.

"far more than any buyer would normally be spent on a AAA game."

    that would be "spend"...

and while we're at it, since when is $100 "far more" than any buyer would normally spend on a AAA game - with many triple-A titles for the latest platforms rolling in at the £50-£60 mark.

    http://www.game.co.uk/en/games/xbox-one/?cm_sp=XboxOne-_-games-_-introFullList

    BF4 + Premium = $100+

Plenty of people still spending more than that on WoW every year.

Star citizen will either be brilliant or rubbish there will be very little middle ground due to some of the sums been paid out by backers. $100 is not even realistic minimum if you vist forums people are spent $1000+ just by themselves.

Even in bit tech everyone has spent more than $100. Sure you can get in the full game with ship for less but its not that accurate for most. Early backers who backed it and forgot about it will be bringing the average down I'd imagine.

Star citizen just has huge hype and needs to be bug free and brilliant from day 1 feats even wow did not acomplish. It's about 15 months away from launch with March 2015 been a rough estimate doing the rounds so plenty of time to watch wait and see.

Not true at all, in fact a third of us have spent less than $100.
