I think previous months were inflated because of the last chance to grab a package with Alpha access, thats when the numbers dropped off. At least thats how it felt, the numbers dont really suggest it had that much of an impact really.

Im also a tad alarmed that my earlier comment of 3.3m raised this month, its 2.49, although i think i intended to type 2.3m, but im not quite sure how it gets 2.49 for this month but thats what the page is calculating.

Its interesting looking at the numbers just how influential these ship sales are, the daily figures are fairly stable in general, but give people a reason to spend money and they dont disappoint. Whether its ship sales, new variants, or the AC module being released, its led to strong sales.

    That's a fascinating spreadsheet.

VipersGratitude, why are you determining the success of the project by the number of new backers being brought in? There is inevitably going to be a decline of this over time, with spikes due to some PR in gaming media or similar. The backer delta for AC launch clearly shows a spike running from 3rd June through to the 11th, and hasn't yet settled down to the old count either.

(The spike goes from circa 500 to 3500, that's not a 2-3x factor! It's currently ticking over at 750 new citizens per period as well, up from 500). Looking at the longer term chart, you can also clearly see a massive spike due to the Arena Commander launch which is exactly in line with what happens when CIG release big updates (previous spike was due to number of alpha slots disappearing).

Thing is, a lot of their money isn't from new backers, it's from existing backers who buy new shiny things. Just look at most people in here as an example of that. The average pledge of $96 isn't going to be from people who signed up and immediately spent that much - the average initial pledge is going to be significantly lower, but nobody can check that metric apart from CIG.

The funding forecast is also interesting to say the least. If it sticks to the average by ?March 2015 they'll be sitting on $63m!

Hello all! I wasn't at all happy with the dead zone on the X52 (and no Windows calibration changed anything) so I bought 10 12x3mm Neodymium magnets from Amazon (man these little things are powerful!) and I've just done the magnet mod in the below video:

    Results coming right up!

    ...And the results.

Well, no word of a lie, its like using a totally different joystick - this is one mod that really does work as advertised.

No more constantly overshooting targets because of a huge deadzone and then maximum thrust kicking in! I can consistantly track targets around, and I no longer feel like I'm fighting the controller more than the enemy!

If you have an X52 then I 100% recommend you try this. For those interested, these are the ones I'm using. £3.40 for a pack of 10 (you only need 4, but I wanted at least 8 in case it still wasn't sensitive enough).

    I thought you'd ditched the X52!?

There's a mod for the Warthog I'm interested in as well - FSSB R3. I do have a 10cm extension as well, which has done wonders for light-touch accuracy.

I had, in fact I was going to sell it, but this just made it 100% more awesome and Rhydian found the suction cups for me! I still don't like separate throttle, or that it clutters my desk, but for now I've I've popped the FLY5 in the cupboard and this is my go to stick :thumb:

I don't know about this mod (as I understand it the Warthog is already up there with the best sticks you can buy), but if its anything like this one its definitely worth doing.

The Warthog is the "best" commercial stick out there at the moment. There's some really bloody expensive custom ones around, but they're generally replacing the base of the Warthog and actually recommend using the Warthog stick assembly.

The FSSB R3 mod changes it to being a force sensing stick, like the X65F - something used on F16s today.

Yes, HOTAS clutters the desk, it's a sad fact. I like the separate throttle over using a keyboard though, adds massively to the immersion aspect.

I'm so doing that joystick mod then as its insanely easy!

Just as a heads up to everyone. I'm moving back to my dads for a month (maybe 2) at the end of the week, and I wont have access to my PC, I'll be running from my tablet mainly, so I wont be able to hop on voice comms or anything but I'll try to pop in to this tread as much as I can :)

Did the magnet mod a few weeks ago, and I'm loving the responsiveness.

I also did the "milk cap" mod, where you compress the spring with a piece of plastic like a milk cap or the centre cut from a CD/DVD "cake box" slid between the spring & grip, but I'm not sure about that one.

I've managed to resist the Xi'an Scout so far....

EDIT: The time is 12:53BST - Funding =$46,997,977, Citizens =486,105
We are only $2003 short of the $47million "Letter from the Chairman".

    EDIT2: 14:51BST Funding=$47,000832, Citizens =486,146

    $47million ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!

Sounds like you'll have to hand-massage the xml file in SC. There are how-tos on the RSI forum I believe.

They do have that support, the problem being that every single joystick has a different device ID etc etc. CIG just haven't fully implemented it yet.

Also, I hate X axis being set to yaw. Ugh.

Which one is X? Left to right? As X for yaw just seems so wrong!

Watched AtV now. Summary in spoiler tags below:-

Mousepads are back in the store (RSI only though). Bought one.
    Interview with writer David Haddock.
Asteroid Hangar almost ready to deploy.
Detailed (ie long) update on ship build status.
"Bug Smashers" shows how they fixed the "Ghost Buggy" error - it was a combination of a frictionless floor & the buggy being told it was under 3g.
Concept art shown of Gladius (I think) in UEE livery
Mustang contest winner (racer) & runners-up (pizza & pimp)
