Just watched AtV#5, and discovered that the "double precision" they're converting to will allow them to potentially model our entire solar system out as far as Pluto at 1:100 scale :jawdrop:

Whats the deal with this? They say its a short range fighter, so presumably it doesn't have a jump drive?

I'm a bit confused. Can you only ever buy ships or will you be able to get them in game as well? Just don't want to spend loads of money on a ship when I could get it in game anyway and work for it.

All ships will be available in game. They're selling them now to raise capital so they can actually produce the game.

So, you could start with an Aurora & eventually grind your way up to an Idris Frigate.

Yup. $15 a go. But I think they said they only have 3000?

CIG are surprised as well, 1000 t-shirts or mousepads usually lasts them weeks.

Thinking between the 315A or the Avenger, just not sure which to go with. I'll do some fighting but more into trading and transportation. They're both $75 for the packages, but the Avenger comes with the Business hangar and 6 months insurance over 4 months. But I hear the 315 comes with a jump drive? What would you guys think is the better option?

Reading the ship specs page, the 315P has a jump drive & jump tracker (unsurprising as it's the explorer variant). It also has a tractor beam on the nose hardpoint, but only a pair of wingtip lasers as weapons.

The Avenger has "Prisoner Transport pods", but no jump drive. Weapons are 2 distortion cannons, 1 "TigerStrike" (whatever kind of gun that is?) & 2 missile launchers.

It depends what you want to be, YMMV etc.

You can make your own comparisons here

Had a thought. Star Citizen is using CryEngine afaik, and Crytek is (by some accounts) in a bit of a death-spiral.

So if Crytek goes, presumably RSI lose the support Crytek are providing them (and potentially the right to use the engine if this goes to full bankruptcy).

Bit of a bugger, what do you guys think?

Nah. CIG purchased full source code access for CryEngine so they don't lose it if Crytek go out of business (which I doubt, I think they'll just massively downscale). What they do lose is the tech support from Crytek, which is solved by employing ex-Crytek people who made the engine in the first place.

Yes, from what I've read it might actually end up being beneficial.

Agreed - CIG have changed so much of CryEngine, it might as well be forked.

    10ftC:-

$48 Million Letter - Retaliator Commercial is GO!

$50m goal - Alien races to speak alien (Actual made up languages instead of gibberish).

For anyone using Voice Attack, a user over at the Elite Forums has created a Vocal Response Library and are selling it for just $3, so you don't have to spend $45 on INOVA

This week's AtV is delayed due to being taken down & re-edited (again).
This time, someone sang the banned verse of the German National Anthem.

Bad news from "Reverse the Verse" - 12.5 lands late tomorrow at the absolute earliest, more likely next week sometime.
