I guess that's just one of the unknowns at this stage. There's still a lot of gameplay to be fleshed out, so whilst it's exciting that they're thinking of adding stuff like hospital ships, there really does need to be a point in their existence from a gameplay perspective... We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.

Yeah, this month's JP is basically the Gladius and not much else.

Though the feature point of the Nul system is a crashed Bengal carrier that has been turned in to a pirate city.

I think its safe to say most of those are going to be in the $200+ bracket, and they feel more fringe ships, stuff that the universe needs, but perhaps isnt going to drive much income.

    - I like the idea of the Cutlass for S&R, but im guessing this would be a dedicated ship for this purpose, so $$$ as it'll most likely be around the Constellation size.

    - Passenger Transport, i'd like to see something similar to a bus, we have a 890 Limo, so a Freelancer MAX with seats doesnt seem too bad. It'd be fine having it in the universe, but pledging... im not sure.

    - Boarding / Assault, wouldnt that be the TNGS ship? Are CIG going to make one, despite having already picked one winning boarding ship, and having others they said were good enough too. Was that not the same as a boarding/assault ship?

    - Repair ship, i like this, its certainly a role which will be important in org movement. Send in the combat ships, with support role ships on the outskirts (Starfarer, Freelancer/Hull C, Repair ship etc).

    - Mine ships... seems a bit odd. I guess laying traps inside an asteroid field, finish them off, then salvage whats left.

    - Tug, ties in with the above, and bringing back wrecks for restoration.

    - Recon, i'd imagine is a M50 with Hornet Ghost tech, minimal weaponry.

    - Science / Hospital, could be interesting. A Medic ship for the FPS side of things.

    - Starter ship... another one is welcome.

    - Deep Space Fighter, not entirely sure what this would be. Im guessing its simply capable of travelling further on operations without needing a carrier etc nearby to launch from?

Im not really seeing any of those as being important, which makes sense them being 4th wave ships. They'll have important roles in the universe, and jobs tied to them as well as having sandbox value to open play.
I can see S&R, Boarding, Repair, Recon & DSF being popular though, and the rest probably having minimal interest in terms of parting with cash. I do hope these are $200 region ships though, with the obvious smaller ships being $40-100. Wave 3 i think is going to be the huge ships, $250-450 a pop (excl Herald).

Unfortunately the Greycat will not fit in the Cutlass.
Also you can flip it trying...

    Ahahahaaa. Love it.

My problem with a repair ship is that SC is going for 'reality'...repairs in reality will take hours. Not exactly in the middle of a dogfight.

yeah, thats a fair point, all i can think of is it either being more like emergency repairs, rather than complete rebuilds to scrap, or technical advances having a big role in being able to fix things.
We have 3D printing already, so the idea of constructing what is needed and having the automated machinery to do it all much faster than humans, is plausible, but its bordering on immersion breaking or lore breaking if we have the tech to instantly reproduce something, why cant we all have a scythe etc.
I wonder if it could be some space transit van, big 3d printer in the back, it produces generic panels which drones fix into place. Enough to get you home properly, rather than limping back and being an easy target for someone passing by. It would mean extended damage states, so each damageable section (eg wings) would have degrees of damage, new to destroyed, and repaired to destroyed.

I dont think we should be able to magically make the 'as new', but if they could fly straight and get home, that'd be enough.
For some reason i have it in my head that the reclaimer can repair, but its not in the announcement, so its either random gossip, assumption based on drone & class 9 options, or it was mentioned on the reverse the verse special. It has been mentioned for the Carrack though, that much i am sure of. So repairs while in the middle of nowhere will be possible, however its done.

You are going to get a big fat ship that can dock lots of ships, launch repair drones and take in salvage delivers out in the middle of no where.

Instant business, just need someone to protect it.

Yeah, FPS will be the next new module, with the first proper showing of it happening at PAX Aus which is at the very end of this month. I think we'll see more single seater ships added to AC (incl variants), and maybe even small multi-crew ships added before the FPS is in our hands, but hopefully by xmas (my hope, not theirs).

I'm sure they said they wanted the Freelancer and variants added to AC asap as its one of the original ships.
