Some new ships have it offered but older ships don't have it. Still screams money grab at the moment.

Not really. LTI was offered on all packages bought before a certain date to reward early backers. After that, it switched to 6 months. However, new ships that have not previously been on sale are offered up with LTI when they are first launched, after which they also switch to 6 months, again rewarding early backers for those ships. Perfectly logical and fair - especially considering that LTI isn't actually that valuable, and the running cost of insurance is going to be low.

So, FPS looking good. Really glad to see progress outside of dogfighting being made!

Looks like Crysis 3 in space in the first part of the vid. Once he goes into zero g and flys around to shoot now that looks awesome.

If the FPS module is far along why not release it to the player base. As its running a dam sight better than the space combat module did. Guessing still some back end work on the hit box of weapons to work on but still its an alpha people will expect that would be fun to have something to play.

LTI on new ships is limited time only is it not ? Does depend on there version of low, WOW has low running costs to raid acordiing to blizzard. ( Its still about 1k gold a week in consumables and repair bills at the cutting edge, Which is still acording to there own surveys twice as much as the average player earns in a week.)

I think the Mustang might be an example that breaks what you say, iirc Ben explained it something like 'because it hasnt had a chance to go on sale before'. Its possible you could argue that the Mustang did have the chance to go on sale months ago, but the community vote against.
As it stands, im not sure what CIG would do, i mean does it do them any harm to let people buy $40 LTI ships and CCU them to a hornet moments later, or a freelancer/cutlass/constellation when its CCU path is available? If anything i think it benefits them, but the flip-side is that the GM will buy tons of them and look to profit on those too.
IMO, when they added the gifting rules, they should have said as of XX/XX/2014 any ships gifted lose their LTI, the LTI offer is tied to the ship & customer, not whoever owns the ship. It would have pretty much killed the GM dead.

I dont drive, but if you buy a new car with 1-3yr free insurance, if you sell it after a year, does the insurance transfer? I wouldnt have thought so, but no knowledge to say otherwise.

I think it looks good, and probably is no worse than many Early Access titles, but its probably not in a good enough package to ship, and they might not have things like customisation available, they may well have hard coded each characters weapon so theres ARs & shottys in there, but they couldnt pick for themselves in-game. Stuff like that. Agreed that it does look good enough to release, but then it might simply look good, they might know deep down things arent quite right, in the same way we never got to fly anything until AC, yet we've seen CR flying a Hornet from day 1, but he'll know it feels wrong and it'll reflect badly on what they're trying to release.

Im also sure that ive heard Ben describe insurance costs as being like 10% of a jobs pay.
The insurance is also based on game time, so if you play for 1 day, then wait a week, you've only used 1 day of insurance. What i dont fully understand is if its real time, meaning if you play for 10h over a weekend, is that 10h, or is that say 40 days of game progression, so 1.3mo.
If you play for 2h every day, 365 days a year, thats actually remarkably close to 1 month worth of hours. So i dont think its playtime and insurance months by our stopwatch, but still, 10% of a jobs pay... it certainly isnt twice as much as the average player earns in a week :D thankfully.

Sigh... Decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my Aurora to a 300i.

But instead of buying the right one I got the Aurora LN to 300I upgrade whereas I have the Aurora MR... :wallbash:

Guess who has to wait 24 hours to be able to refund it to store credits and buy the right one?
I was looking forward to using that Oirigin 315P. :grr:

    Ugh, that sucks.
The 300i is a nice ship IMO, hopefully the 315p is too, i see no reason for it not to be.

Just because they can run 4 player multiplayer in a controller LAN environment doesn't mean they have a backend system that's anywhere close to being ready for letting anyone else play with it.

Shame theres not much in there which was missing from the live stream.

Theres quite a few things which were specifically mentioned in AtV/RtV which was about 36h before the event, but never got a mention, let alone a showing.

Starfarer was mentioned as a ship we'd see.
They'd demo Auroras with custom paint schemes.
They'd be showing 2 demos (FPS and ??) [edit - i guess the paint booth thing could be the demo?]
Plus it being about 90min, going on 2hrs cos CR likes to talk.

I cant understand why they couldnt do the Aurora paintjobs, but i suspect (as mentioned after the event) the Starfarer, 2nd demo, and the 50min event was because they were unable to show a Sq42 demo. They'd mentioned the Starfarer was one of the ships they'd be using in Sq42 too, which was good news for me as a month ago it seemed reasonable to assume the lack of urgency to implement a fuel transporter ship till the PU would mean tons of other ships would be prioritised ahead of it (like the Gladius has, and rightly so).

Im convinced they had something from Sq42. Not sure what the next event is. Last year they did an anniversary sale on the 11th (11/11) to mark the end of the 1mo fundraising (10/10) so maybe they'll do the same next week. I suspect if they have the chance to show off the Sq42 demo (assuming it was planned for last weekend) then maybe just before xmas they'll do something?

I'll never understand their process for some things :D

The $XXm Letter from the Chairman, and 10FTC. After every single event, they're guaranteed to break a goal, yet every time it seems to catch them unaware. They release 3560 x 890 Jumps $2m+ if all new sales), and the new Cutlass variants, and it takes them till Tuesday/Wednesday to release what is pretty much a cut & paste of a sentiment of appreciation and amazement, a description of what this target unlocked, and the goal we'll unlock for the +2m goal.
CR could write out the $61m letter today, its not going to change all that much, and whatever wins the vote is pasted in based on its description. Why does it need to be done afterwards, its hardly tempting fate.
Same thing with 10FTC, its a Monday show, they always hold events at weekend, so why not film it before they go, film 2 back to back knowing how busy they'll be the week leading up to an event etc.

It makes sod all difference if theres no 10FTC, or we have to wait 4 days for the Letter, it just seems like they could prepare things in advance, and have someone press a button to make it live on the site when ready (after the handling of the Gladius going up instead of the Herald, maybe thats why! :D).

    :p

As i say, makes sod all difference how it is now, i just find it odd that these things seem like they catch them off-guard. I'd imagine at least half stretch goals are hit over weekends, sale or otherwise. They even release things on a Friday too, knowing what's coming :D Bonkers.

Just looking at the vote for next ship, in the previous letter.

    13% Search & Rescue
    35% Passenger Liner / Transport
    34% Boarding / Assault Ship
    17% Recon Craft

    24,101 votes cast

You can read the source code for the exact percentage:
    34.703954192772% = Passenger
    34.479897099705% = Boarding

Thats 8364 vs 8310, theres 54 votes in it!! Unbelievable... theres 8364 people who want a passenger ship!? :D I bet the people who voted on the other 2, 90% of them would prefer the boarding ship too.

I've gone the other way and voted for a boarder. Bus sounds dull as hell.

Seeing as the FPS and boarding action looks amazing, this is the longical thing for them to add to the game at some point surely! (The assaultship that is)

Yeah. Im sure they'll do another wave of concept ships and include those dismissed and some new ideas too. This is just their way of letting the community be involved and determining whats popular and should be prioritised as the next ship to start concept work on.
The Redeemer ('Gunship') strikes me as being usable as a boarding ship, but then maybe i dont get the role and im quite wrong. Im sure the Caterpillar has been said its popular with pirates for boarding.

I have nothing against them building a bus ship, but i'd much rather for some of the lesser roles which still need to be in the game, like taxis & busses, rather than limos and luxury yachts, i'd prefer them to use existing assets. The Freelancer MAX with 4/5 rows of 2 seats either side of an aisle (with Cei on trolly duty!) would be perfectly fine for the PU. Im sure a 300i would do fine as a taxi too.

I just think that when you've got something like a Hornet, Freelancer or Constellation, and they've taken say 100hr to create them, tons of people will buy them, maybe they'll move on to something else but they'll be an important part in a lot of peoples characters story, owning them, being attacked/killed by them etc.
How many people are saying they want to be bus drivers? i just struggle to see people seeing a cool looking ship and thinking "oooh, i could do with a bus and that looks ace" :D
You make a boarding ship, and it looks cool, you'll buy it. A bus... CIG would need to name it after me for me to buy it!! :D

To be fair though, bus driving isnt that different to owning a MAX, its just transportation of a different kind. Pick up items from location A, deliver them to location B. Does it matter if its scrap metal or citizens?
