Tempted by the Tali and the MM, i've already added $500 6mo ago with a view to buying them both when they were available again, and that got spent already on the Reclaimer & Gladius.

    @teamtd11
Seems like you came away with a great deal there really, cant have cost you all that much either factoring the removal of a package.

Also, from what was said in RtV about time passing at 4x in-game (latest thoughts at least) that'd mean these 2yr insurance ships had 4380hrs of IRL time before they expire and need paying for in-game.
I calculated what our 9 BF-clan players have accumulated in BF4, and as of yesterday we'd done 4483, just over 100hrs more, in 13mo of playing, and thats taken 9 players :D
Should be as good as lifetime for most ppl.

Sold my standard insurance Hornet Ghost and upgraded my LTI Hornet into a Ghost with LTI.
Also swapped out my Freelancer for a Starfarer as I've been eyeing up that ship for the past year.

I'm so very tempted by that Banu Merchantman, though I'd also quite like to set it as a goal to obtain one in-game so I might skip paying for it and just wait.

So I don't really get it. I have a 315P now. Apparently I can sell it and get another one with 2 years of unsurance?

The 315p is not in the anniversary sale so no 2 years insurance.

Edit: I guess its possible to melt your 315p, buy the Aurora with 2 years insurance and then CCU to the 315p?

LMAO, you sneaky B.... yeah :D

That might actually be possible too, i really cant see why it wouldnt.

    Aurora LX Standalone ($30): https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Standalone-Ships/Aurora-LX-Anniversary
    Aurora LX Package ($45): https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Aurora-LX-Anniversary

    LX to 300i CCU ($25): https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Cross-Chassis-Upgrades/Aurora-LX-To-300i-Upgrade

    300i to 315p upgrade ($10): https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Upgrades/Origin-315p-Upgrade

That makes it $65 standalone, $80 for the package. I think thats same price for SA, $5 more for package. The difference in packages seems minimal too, 1000UEC less ($1 worth) and no digital star map & soundtrack.

Obviously if your package has the full alpha, you'd lose that and pay $5 more. As it stands the 315P has 720hrs of insurance-covered game play anyway. Thats more than most people play a single game, unless you get years out of it (which will hopefully be the case here).

Edit: I should also point out, this should apply to all 300i's and Hornets too. Worth a look, particularly on any SA ships. You could also sacrifice an Avenger or Gladius and wait a little while for the CCU path to arrive. Cutlass should be in at 1.0 too, as a purely solo ship (dont think Freelancer or Conny will be till they start toward 2.0).
1.0 seems to be either side of the holidays (i seem to remember a similar story last year though) but its very tentative.

Just grabbed a Aurora with 2 years insurance. Could CCU to a mustang or hornet in the future :)

I know people were doing this with the Herald, Cheap way to buy LTI and in the future, CCU to something else. The Insurance comes from the original ship, so in some cases you are just buying a ship with the idea to use LTI on something bigger.

I think the 2yr LX is better than an LTI Herald really, unless you wanted the Herald ofc. Most people will survive on stock insurance, too (although i suspect of the people spending large sums, most will surpass that, they'll just be outnumbered by casual players).

The issue with all this is the waiting for CCUs, at least the LX is flyable, so your wait is simply for the end ship you want to have a path there. The Herald you need to wait for it to be flyable. So if you wanted a Gladius (not a great example as it'll end up more than the Herald i think) you could probably have it in January using an LX, done. Might be a year waiting for it via the Herald, and the 2yr insurance vs LTI is minimal if they stick with 4x time progression.

All that being said, i think everyone should wait till Nov 2015, 3yr insurance!! ;)

All this talk about insurance makes me wonder, how is it going to be purchased in the Persistent Universe? In-game credits, or dolars/euros/sterling?

Star Citizen is planned to do everything in fiction, so you'll pay UEC (the in-game currency) to an in-game insurance company.

So tempted to rebuy my Gladiator in the sale, but I'm resisting temptation at the moment. I know that I'll be able to earn the cheaper ships (Aurora, Gladius etc) in the PU relatively quickly, so I'm not bothered about missing them, but for some reason the Gladiator keeps calling.

Still interested in seeing what the new corvette is going to be (ie: the Idris before it got massive), is it going to be similar to the 890J in terms of size?

Then I suppose you are going to be able to buy UEC with fiat, right?

If you really wanted to, yes.

My understanding of how they'd deal with it seems pretty well balanced too. Heres an example of how it'd work (with entirely made up numbers):

Weekly income limit = 100,000 UEC

    Scenario 1:
You play for 5-6hrs over the weekend, too busy during the week, and you're able to earn 80,000 UEC.
You'll be able to go to the RSI store and spend cash to top-up your account with an additional 20,000 UEC before reaching your earning cap for income.

    Scenario 2:
You play every day, earning 200,000 UEC that week, you go to the RSI store, and it says you've earned more than 100,000 UEC, so you dont need to pad your balance with cash.

So the players with more money than time, can still supplement their balance without overpowering it.
Players with tons of time and little cash can still earn a decent amount without needing to pad their balance.
Players with tons of money and tons of time are SOL, you cant double-down to make it even more extreme.

Cant see how anyone would oppose such a system personally, being fair to those will busy lives but want to enjoy the SC world at a reasonable pace, and those who are pushed for cash but want to earn things in game without people buying their way through the whole game etc. Theres a happy balance in place.

    Carrack Concept Sale Launch!

The Retaliator one is already up, was pretty sure they'd said we'd hear and see more of the ships in the sale, and then they went on sale, nothing new, and got rather disappointed, so its good to see we've got a whole week in inside looks into them, with the Javelin and Carrack as the big finale too.

Love the Retaliator, but feel like i know a lot about it already as its so close, but the Banu Merchantman is the one im looking forward to from the spotlights, hopefully we'll see something more than artwork, like an exterior and some interiors modelled.
Bit disappointed theres no Starfarer on the list, its as much a Wave 2 ship as the others, yet its been ignored, while all the rest are there, including the 2 which i'd imagine will be sold mid-Jan ('tali and Gladiator). :waah:

    10ftC:-

No letter yet as CR has been here in UK for a Sq42 meeting.

We should hit $63million today, we're only $34,000 short at time of posting.

We hit the $63mil mark, so I guess they'll give us some more bonus UEC then?
