Worth mentioning that the S4 gun with the Bucc, the deal has changed due to miscommunication. At the moment, everyone with a bucc has 'item x' replaced with the winner, as part of the items included with the ship. On Monday they'll run a script to break that weapon from the ship contents, and be a regular Voyager Direct weapon on the account. It was done because if you'd CCU'd to the Bucc, if it was stitched into that ship contents, if melted the CCU is gone for good, and it seems their solution was to give loose weapons to CCU'd ships, which ofc didnt go down well with the community. The bought buccs would retain the gun if ccu'd of course, but it was still and inferior deal to those who'd ccu'd to it.

I may have acquired 3, purely for the free weapon, see how it unfolded (i expected it to be tied to the ship, as it is now). Monday confirmed the worst case scenario, but no big deal, i'd just use that as a superior LTI base to ccu up to something better (orion, most likely), rather than from a prospector, but now they're soon to be set loose, i can melt em next week, use a token to get the sabre back for some fun, and consider my options for a LTI base later on.

So if you were taking advantage of the free weapon, give it a week before melting it, if that was always the intention.
Does anyone know much about the weapon itself? I think the losing gun was the same as the Vangaurds under-nose gun, sounds amazing but not great. Not sure if the winning gun is on an existing ship, or how it compares.

They are really struggling with this update. Dozens and dozens of internal builds since the original 2.4 on the PTU. 18 or more PTU builds now too.

At least they're getting fresh patches out the door on a regular basis. They'll get there eventually, and regular patches is likely to help speed that up.

What is/are the main blockers at the moment?

    Patch S is up, apparently.

That tutorial should have been stripped soooo long ago. What a terrible advertisement that was for newcomers during the free-fly weeks, so anyone that had the common sense and decency to try and learn the game before diving into the PU, got a buggy mess that couldnt be completed. :wallbash:

The Mustang stuff, seem more like stuff that happens to have been fixed by other areas of the team and being introduced, rather than ever being blockers, but the notes dont go into whats still missing, only whats been fixed.
It'll all come together when its ready, theres a long way still to go, i just hope for their sake it doesnt hold them up, delaying the implementation of stuff in other areas. I wonder whether 2.5's content is somewhat piling up and could be another big and troublesome update as a result, or whether they'll try and stick with manageable chunks.

    Just tried S.

    • When summoning ships, the console just went back to the welcome screen instead of telling you which pad to go to.
    • Ships still spawn 50m up, then teleport to the ground as you're about to walk under them.
    • Halfway around Yela, it just CTD for no adequately explored reason.

Can you still play in third person? Would be a really nice way to get over the issues with locomotion in VR, as third person games aren't sickness inducing at all.

Motion sickness in VR? Is that really a thing?

BTW... SC doesn't support VR at this time.

Eventually it will though, and we'll have to find a way to make the FPS sections workable.

    Yup,

That does seem to have become a big issue... locomotion I mean. I'm not a fan of teleport because it ruins immersion/realism.

VR zGame uses a hybrid system where you set a teleport destination and then you walk or run there automatically. It seems to work quite well.

Solus uses traditional movement controls assigned to Vive touch pad.

No, I don't like teleport either, plus that would be interesting to balance in a competitive FPS.....

If they could get 3rd person working so that it doesn't give the user a unfair advantage, that would be a reasonable compromise.

Obviously non sickness inducing first person would be the dream, but I don't think we've found a way to achieve that yet have we.

Take a look at Windlands feedback. If any game is going to induce sickness it's that one. And yet it has overwhelmingly positive feedback on steam. People who've bought a VR game and then spew tend to be very angry and blame the developer. They post negative review on steam. Looking at the feedback from VR users it looks like sickness isn't the issue it once was. Sure there's a percentage but I think a minority now. DK2 reduced sickness a little perhaps. CV1 and Vive still further reduced the problem. I've been reading statements from people who suffer some degree but are determined to get used to the motion and for some it seems to be working.

Vorpx continues to sell. Why? There are gamers who want to play FPS in VR with mouse and keys. Vorpx VR will induce sickness far more than a native game like Windlands and yet Vorpx continues to sell. I've never experienced VR sickness.

I think it's a shame many developers are now somewhat scared to jump in because of this issue.

The Dragonfly concept sale is up - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15382-Hatching-The-Drake-Dragonfly

$35 Single ship (matt black or concept exclusive yellow)
$65 Double pack (one of each colour)

    $300 Cat + 2 Dragonfly double pack.

So thats a $5 saving on the double, or $15 on the multi (Cat is $245), and ALL of the above include LTI because its a bundle item, so CIG couldnt disable it from the Cat inside that bundle.

They also have the regular $245 cat on sale too (6mo, which is unusual, as they'd said 3yrs about a month back... which didnt seem right then either!).

    * All prices excl VAT (i ruddy hate the CIG site not telling you the clean price, im buying with credit, i dont want to have to work out the pre-VAT price if neither of us are liable for it), and all ships can be obtained in-game, yadda yadda yadda.

Theres also some updated images of the caterpillar progress on the page, the video below, and a Dragonfly brochure.

    Caterpillar video

    Looks pretty damn stunning.

I've picked up the Cat bundle, the impending price increase intrigues me, if they bump it from $245 to $260, then the difference in a few months could be:
    $300 for Caterpillar w/LTI ($260) and 2x Dragonfly ($35/ea) as 'LTI tokens'
    or
    $260 for HR Caterpillar w/6mo ($26)

My sole interest in most of the concept sales these days is stocking up on LTI base ships and whichever sees the highest price bump, i'll use as a base towards a $325/350 ship. The LTI part isnt essential, but the concept sale is the most likely time to get the low price. Those people who bought a $240 Gemini saw it bump $100. If they wanted a Carrack now, it'd cost them just $10 more in the next major sale, and they'd have spent $250 for a ship others paid $350 for. Im looking for the next Starfarer, at the initial price. The more i can save, the better i'll end up with, cos im not adding more $$ for ships, maybe physical items if something pops up, but saving $15 could get me what i want, versus having to sacrifice something.
Its also possible something like the Prospector would be what i'd settle for (vs Orion), so its handy having them banked away for that purpose too.
