Talk about ship prices on that basis (even if the final economy works better/pays more) will probably put even more focus on LTI!

I guess from my perspective, I wan't to enjoy the game experience, with a little less focus on grinding for ships. Also, did I hear right that the player driven economy will account for about 10% of the total SC economy?

Hype train? Star Citizen? I haven't purchased it yet but I've done a 360 change of attitude towards it.

A completely open and transparent game development in stark contrast to No Man's Pie with sean murray's secretive approach.

A very talented group of artists, coders and Chris Roberts is clearly reaching for the stars. What they showed at Gamescon was amazing. Compare that to Elite D where all we saw were 3 guys (one wearing a cowboy hat) sitting and discussing the future and making funnies. I like Elite but it will pale into insignificance next to SC.

My one hope is that SC gets VR functionality else I wunt be buying it. All those whiney-ass pugknockers who rant at developers every time they feel uncomfortable in VR have a lot to answer for. Most devs have pandered to them and now all we have is teleport movement mechanic which obviously will not fit with SC on-foot action.

That image though, wow, its a useful way to vent all that bitterness & jealousy i suppose. Needing to compare the 3 using lies and selective information to make an empty but finished game seem viable compared to a casual and rushed hypefest and a game with depth and quality thats still being made :D
If Elite was so wonderful, wouldnt people already own it as its been out for nearly 2 years?

Stanley - Youve had a 360 on Star Citizen? :D I think you've been doing a few too many 360s before typing that.
You need to join VRA, take the 12-step program :thumb:

Players are 10% of the population, the other 90% being NPCs, so to a degree, that ratio makes sense within the economy. However ive not heard CIG say anything specific about this, and if they did its probably just connecting the 1-in-10 being players with the fact that 10-in-10 would influence the economy, not just us. Its a great idea really, because not only does it make the universe more active, it also uses them to outnumber us and make it extremely hard to manipulate the economy, because the community cant decide to skew something, without preventing the NPCs with force, and i'd imagine the simulation would start throwing more force behind its attempts to keep things on track. The planet would hire fighters to sort things out, then call in the police, and then military force i suppose. It wouldnt just sit back and let player tank it, it'd fight back.

Last year I loved Oculus and got angry at the merest mention of Vive. This year I cancelled my CV1 and HTC shipped me my Vive. Last year I thought SC was pretty but vacant and with annoying default HOTAS controls. This year I think SC will be the greatest space sim ever.

On step 1 of the 12 step program can I still drink vodka?

As some of you may remember... some time ago I purchased by accident The Completionist package from Chris Roberts. It put my bank account in the red but through sheer hard work and good luck it is now back in the black. I have been trying out the spaceships in the package and half of them are faulty in some way. Some of them won't start and others have bits missing (canopy, flight deck, important doors preventing oxygen loss etc etc). Can I get my money back on this package?

I was being pretty clear. You live in a SC bubble, I do not. No judgement attached to that, we all have our bubbles. From outside the bubble, I see no hype train developing (media or otherwise) for SC.

Edit - frankly I haven't even seen any recent media coverage for SC.

    http://www.gamespot.com/articles/how-star-citizen-plans-to-do-much-of-what-no-mans-/1100-6442819/

Thats 3 examples of stories from the first 3 sites google ranks on first page for 'gaming news sites' (link), all covering what we saw on last Fridays presentation.

The others might have articles too, but im not digging through a weeks worth of news following a gaming exhibition weekend to prove what sort of bubbles anyone is in or whether or not anyone outside of SC fans are talking about SC.

Also worth pointing out the 2nd result happens to be marked 'Todays Hottest' on n4g.com, and the 3rd has the headline "How Star Citizen plans to do much of what No Man's Sky doesn't" which is essentially what was being talked about in terms of NMS hype being directed towards SC, and they're not the only one.

Presumably you dont frequent sites which cover a broad range of stories. I dont, but it doesnt mean it isnt happening if i actually went somewhere covering wider stories. I genuinely know sod all about this new Deux Ex, about Skyrim or The Witcher till they came out, and ive been playing PC games for over 20yrs. I tend to try and follow other stuff during things like E3 & Gamescom (EA, Sony, Microsoft, Ubisoft, the embarrasing parts of the Nintendo event etc) and beyond that it needs to be brought to my attention from someone im following on Youtube or something.

Stanley Tweedle, can you troll another thread? A 360 means your back where you started hating on SC. You bought a completionist package as much as Chris Roberts personally told me VR is a gimmick for newbies who are not good enough for a screen.

Grr. 2.5 should NOT have gone live. ESP is utterly borked. Going to have to fly with a mouse if you want to be competitive.

Yeah that issue with ESP is alight on the RSI forums at the moment. I hope if they do issue a patch to fix it, it's a mini parch and not the whole damn client again!

In other news, with the $80 store credit I had left from melting my Warden and re-buying the Sabre, I picked up an Argo (to act as an LTI token) and the Reliant to Freelancer CCU.

Will hold out on applying the CCU to the reliant until I have had fun with it in 2.5. I'm either going to CCU the Avenger to a 315P on the cheap or maybe spend a little more and use the Argo as the CCU staging. With the latter I get access to Bounty Hunting, Trade, Combat and Exploration.
