You're quite correct. Please subtract 180 degrees for correct orientation.

"can you troll another thread?" - No I can't.

Words "virtual reality" and "gimmick" don't go together at all as previously discussed.

Take a break from SC Mr Dizzi.

:D He didnt quite seem to get my hint earler :D

Pete, you're mentioned in the mailing list again i see :D

Im now contemplating grabbing that $495 UEE explorer pack (Carrack, Terrapin & Dragonfly) with the intention of turning that into Reclaimer, Orion & Dragonfly. Main reason being that that pack is $80 cheaper than the ships alone, so a fair saving, and its a package too, comes with SC & SQ42 etc, although i have an AMD package.
I'll likely get that tonight by melting everything except my Starfarer (+AMD), hopefully it can be melted and bought back later, cos i'd quite enjoy buying random ships as they're HR/flyable.

Already bought one on a mates account (Carrack, Hull C, Dragonfly) which was only when i found out it was a game package, so that meant instead of him adding $30 to buy-back an LN package, he's $15 in credit, $5 of that buys him the Hull-C CCU, and he's $10 up. I think i'd have $5 credit spare.

    I am?!

Edit: oh, the VS thing again! I tried regaining my mantle in 2.5 but the game keeps crashing. Annoying, as each time I've tried I've been, how to put it, a 'bit' far ahead of everyone else.

VR is a LOW priority for Star Citizen, due to the number of players who expressed a preference for playing as pirates.

This is because VR doesn't really work when wearing an eyepatch! :p

NMS went way too far in the opposite direction of SC when it comes to complexity, it doesn't even qualify as the most basic space sim (for example every bloody ship handles 100% identical) with procedurally generated planets you can explore, it is just a bunch of resources which serve no purpose that exist on every planet, some people called NMS Minecraft in Space, but that doesn't fit either, as mining is only a part of Minecraft, the construction aspect is absurdly important to the success of Minecraft, but completely missing from NMS.

So really, NMS is essentially nothing but a meaningless random number generator and worse, the longer you play NMS the worse the experience gets as you just bump into more and more shallowness, artificial limitations and missing features.
And that is before we get to the bugs galore, seriously before NMS I didn't even know what a game crashed error message on the ps4 looked like and now it is burned in on the back of my eyes.

Playing NMS (how could I not, what with being desperate for any modern and decent space game like everyone else) was a real eye opener in regards to how much you actually miss complexity when it is suddenly completely absent and sorry to bring up Minecraft again, but that game while very easy in general had at least optional complexity (computers built out of redstone and what not).

Long rant for a shot conclusion:
The promised / threatened complexity of CS could end up as point to attract players with rather than scaring them away.

OK, 24 hour break from discussing it.

    Eye captain. :)

That sums it up. I think there needs to be a training school for developers. So many development teams out there with programming/design skills but so many games lacking depth. NMS is an exercise in random numbers as you say and they tried to formulate a universe around that. As an outsider looking in.. I know exactly what changes I would have made to add more depth/substance. I guess when a team is developing it's very easy to get tunnel vision... Focusing on trivial or lesser things. What's the ultimate objective for NMS? Reach the center of the galaxy? For what purpose?
Getting there is a repetitive grind with no real incentive or challenge. If you think about it... it's really a game that should have been aimed at kids. There is no real substance there for adults. At least the cute aliens and saturated colours would have appealed to children.

There's games that would never of been made without some form of risk taking.

We need risk taking or else we're left with EA style play-it-safe IP games.

I don't think NMS took any risks where they were needed... in the core gameplay. Resource gathering from plants and minerals... yawn.

    Formulaic dumbed-down space combat.

Risk-taking would have been giving the game a hard edge and very challenging (difficult) survival in terms of threat from aliens and pirates.

Not crafting survival... I mean in terms of combat challenge.

Ditch the cutesy alien dinosaurs and trendy drones.

So I just setup my joystick for strafing and had a game of Co-op Vanduul Swarm Joystick and mouse, My team-mates did not last that long.
Was the best moment in Star Citizen so far, Making it all the way to wave 18 and taking the entire wave on in my super hornet and coming out on top. I was exhausted after.

Looked like a lot of fun.

"We split off into a couple of groups for the morning, then met up near the Eve: Valkyrie Oculus booth. The 11th were particularly impressed with Eve Valkyrie on the Oculus Rift - we may have been a bit harsh on the other players. I managed to select a ship (the ‘Cyclone’ if I remember correctly) that actually used gimballed aiming with the aim point being where you’re looking - yeah, went 17-2 in that match despite being 1v3...We all agreed that VR implementation in Star Citizen will be a complete game changer and likely a requirement if Star Citizen esport events go ahead."

I was set to get a free Eve with my CV1 pre-order but ended up cancelling CV1 due to shipping delays and the fact my Vive shipped on time. Have considered buying Eve and using with libreVR. Vive version supposedly in development still.

SC with VR will be mind-blowing.

Stanley, your frequency of posting on this thread is an ominous sign. Awaiting the impatient and bored trolling attempts and the inevitable mod slap on the wrist
