Given that their ability to use off-the-shelf tech without "refining" it seems... limited, I'd not bet on them having only spent an hour on it, personally.

For those who still care, 3.0.0 went out to Evocati a couple hours ago.

    Also, AtV:-

Evocati are a CIG-selected set of player testers, who work under NDA before a build goes to PTU for the rest of us.
I like to think of them as "PTU wave 0".

EDIT: - Have a wiki entry

    HOW EXCITING!

Got a LAN coming up for the date of Citizencon. We're going to play PUBG and then watch the livestream over dinner.

Sadly the presentation will not be discussing Squadron 42 as that has been put back to the Christmas presentation. Even the presentations get delayed!

They are hoping to show some SQ42 gameplay in December. The SQ42 release date has been pulled from the "Answer the Call" webpage, at long last. I'll wager a post 2020 release, any takers?

So, expect yet more unplayable 3.0 gameplay at citizencon. Perhaps they will also announce Smells Over IP in which we all need to buy a $500 chemical contraption from MadDogz that emits various space odours that strongly resemble the surrounding air (also known as vaporware products) - a required purchase for full fidelity.

Go watch the Citizen Con videos. Some really good stuff on there, procedural cities, Xi'an language classes, panel talks on how they do lighting, etc.
Intel sponsored Citizen Con this year, and gave away 200 of their new Optane 900P SSD's (I got one! :D)
PS - If you want to see what I look like IRL, look for my avatar during CR's keynote address.

Flying around ArcCorp and Area 17 looked cool, no doubt. The little bits of polish like landing struts, lighting, particle effect upgrades all coming together - very nice. Still a long way to go before it's a game. Even 3.0 when released will, I imagine, feel like a tech demo. Much like 2.6.3. See you in December where they may release 3.0 to PTU as their big announcement.

Also, CR mentions they are going to a time driven release cycle vs content driven after 3.0 eventually drops... Exactly like they said when 2.0 was released. So take with a large pinch of salt.

Installed my shiny new Intel 900P SSD at the weekend.

As I suspected, my elderly Z87 mobo doesn't show it in the boot menu.:duh:
Oh well, I was about to start shopping for its replacement after Xmas anyway.:sigh:

FYI you may be able to hack it in. I have a NVME SSD that I didn't show in the boot menu of my Impact VII - a custom BIOS created with a few small changes solved it.

I can't help you any more than that, but I'm sure the google-fu is strong with this one....

Yesterday's Bugsmashers covered the first seen culling bug in SC.

Related: On a just-finished Newegg livestream to promote the 900P, Sean "Criminal" Tracy just CONFIRMED today's rumour of Evocati being able to get a stable 30fps with SIXTY players in a single instance!

"We're already twice the performance that we were in 2.6.3, with that many players (up to 60)"

This is now also confirmed on this week's newsletter, with a pic:-

I'm not Evocati, but I have seen some screen shots and had confirmation form some Evo's that they were seeing up to 60+fps during the 60 client stress test, so , hype!
