I think the original launch ships are done now, apart from variants on the Constellation and Freelancer. The week long sale leading up to the 26th was definitely billed as your last chance to get them. However, I do expect some of the newer ships to slowly trickle out to release (the new stretch goal ships as an example).

Damn those holidays for getting in the way of important purchases!
I guess I'll just have to make it my first priority to manufacture a Starfarer then. I can't believe I didn't think to buy one when they were first offered, I knew I was going to be doing industry back then so it would have made sense to make it my first purchase... :duh:

Out of interest, is anyone thinking of or taking part in the 'Next Great Starship' contest?
If you have no clue what that contest is:

I was thinking about it but the only thing I can do is model something in SolidWorks. Texturing, animation etc. I haven't the foggiest.

I'd love to be able to fly my own creation around! It'd probably end up covered in miniguns though.

FTFY, based on my personal preference.

I voted for Faith just to be different. If we go PMC i'm fine with being the guy who's a bit rubbish at combat flying, and if we go organisation i'm still fine with being the guy who's a bit rubbish at combat flying. Faith seemed the most ambiguous though (we could have faith in profit, or faith in our own military strength, or faith in cheesecake or bacon depending on whether it's breakfast or pudding time).

I'm guessing Parge will post the results here after the deadline on Sunday.

I'm in a similar boat, I only go as far as concept sketches and digital art in Photoshop so would fall short on the 3D animation and CryEngine implementation.
...though I guess that's why they say to enter as a team of upto three people, so you cover all the bases.

Some of the people who entered the EVE Online ship design contest have jumped into it, so I'm looking forward to seeing what shows up in the judging phase.

That's the progress for the next goal. So 28% of the next $Million has been raised towards a stretch goal.

The numbers are getting embarrassing now!

Faith here too because the Holy Hand Grenade of Cheesecake cannot be ignored. In all seriousness though I'm happy to go with the flow.

    Ha! :D
Everyone keeps throwing money at the game, so they have to keep coming up with more outlandish goals. Rumour is the next milestone is everyone who pre orders gets a machine that dispenses cheesecake in the shape of a unicorn and never runs out. I've put myself down for five.

Yep! Are people happy to have a 'big unveiling' on Sunday night?

A big unveiling sounds like a good plan to me.

RSI have added a little bit of additional information about Organisations in the game:
So if anyone who hasn't joined up with BitSec yet because they were thinking of joining someone else, you can now do both! :thumb:

I don't think there's been any updated news on the Dog Fighting Module since before their last live-stream (where it seems they tactfully skipped over the question of the DFM, probably not to raise too many questions and added pressure).

As far as I'm aware, the general consensus from the last announcement and conversations on the Star Citizen forums is that we will have a single-player (vs bots or stationery targets) Dog Fighting Module before the year is over.
A more comprehensive multi-player version is unlikely to be ready before 2014 though.

At the moment they have a choice

    1. Implement it using Cryengines inbuilt multiplayer system, and then rewrite the code to suit star citizens persistant universe etc later and redploy it in 2014. This will allow them to release it in December/Early Jan

    2. Rewrite the code now, and then iterate on top of it throughout the rest of the development . This will take longer initially and we may not see a dogfighting module until maybe end of Jan-March but is the 'right way' to do it.

Option 2 is almost certainly what they are going to go with. Chris has said a number of times that this means that development time spent getting it right now won’t be wasted time, which would be the case if we go with option 1.

Given it's mid december, i'd like to think if they weren't going to release it this month they'd have publicly said so by now. I don't see any potential positives to not being that honest; whingers gonna whinge, but honesty and transparency tend to be appreciated, so it would make no sense for them to go with your option 2 and not immediately tell us that's that's the plan.

So they must still be planning on releasing it this month :D
