Boldly going where several MMORPG have already gone before... This from the Beeb:

Fans of Star Trek will have the chance to explore the final frontier in a multi-player online game based on the hugely popular TV series.
Games firm Perpetual Entertainment has secured the rights to develop the game which will allows thousands of trekkers to immerse themselves in the world of the United Federation of Planets.

The 24th century universe being brought to life by Star Trek Online will launch considerably earlier, in 2007.

It could attract millions of players.

    More here

It'll be interesting to see how the co-operation factor works, especially with starship crews... Just how do you get your own command? And how do you deal with unwilling crew? "No cap'n please don't send me down there! I'm wearing red for Gods sake!"

And can you play Klingons? What about the Romulans? Stuff the federation, give me a warbird! :D

It's got to be worth a look see, of only to determine wether it's decent game. Let's face it, most Star Trek based games so far (with the exception of Elite Force) have been pretty lame.

Itll be like the Star Wars games - youll have to play for a year before you can command your own starship, let alone your own fleet. How long till Admiral?

What age they doing it in though? TNG? Voyager? Can you develop new weapons and technologies?
