    From theforce.net:

Rob tells us that the December 2003 issue of the British movie mag HOTDOG has just hit the stands here in the U.S. and found several cool Star Wars related things. In particular, on page 12, here's this possibly amazing passage:
"No wonder Peter "Chewbacca" Mayhew is smiling. Not only has he been rescued from obscurity and given the chance to reprise his role as our Wookiee comrade for Episode III, but his contract also stipulates that he'd be required to appear in Episodes 7, 8, and 9.
Yes folks, seems there are actual whispers at Lucasfilm that the 'sequel' trilogy might be in the works..."

In addition, there's a cool spoiler page (though nothing new for TheForce.net regulars) with a great caricature of Hayden as Anakin/Vader. The cover "story" is a list of the "50 Coolest Movie Characters Ever". #22 is Boba Fett, #13 is Indiana Jones, and #3 is Darth Vader! There's also a "Brief History of Time" according to the movies. It begins with "A Long Time Ago".

Please. Be. True. Of course, remember that the official word from Lucasfilm has been and is currently "no." We'll email them for a comment on the story and post any updates here.

That's the while thing, but if you wanna see it live and in person, click here...

A 7th, 8th and 9th movie in the Star Wars arsenal!? Why not? I mean there are 10 Star Trek movies..

I didn't think GL was going to do them because not much happened? Or in English it would make him write something that wasn't just light sabers and explosions, beyond his capability ;)

    Oh god :duh:

I saw on an interview or sumtin that he said he would never do them but this is probably the worst news of the entire star wars story line.

The 2 new films slaughtered the originals, and im not looking forward to an episode 3. If its anything like episode 2 it will be CGI the movie 3, absolute rubbish.

Adding another 3 of these totally fake and awefully acted films would take the biscuit. Im not looking forward to them at all. I want episode 4, 5 and 6 on dvd now :miffed:

Yeah, I thought he said he wasn't going to do any more because he wanted to finish before he died or something ;) .

I believe if they were going to continue they would have to do all of the episodes. That would be 15 all together if memory serves me. 7-15 are Shadows of the Empire I believe.

You see what they will do is let him die. Then 10 years after his death to celebrate his life they will announce the finishing of the Star Wars series. They will hire in the best directors and actors and make a killer series. Bit like the first trilogy ;)

I'll believe it when I see it.

I really think that George should do the last 3 movies, possibly film them like Lord Of the Rings was filmed, so they can release them not so far apart.

Prolly would be better for him to just let the series die though, rather than creating 3 more disasters on the level of Episode 1 :waah:

Wasn't the original saga penned as 9 episodes?

I believe the story goes after Jedi that Luke succumbs to the dark side, Leia is developing her Jedi powers, then she turns him back, everything's hunky dory.

As for whether they should actually be made or not, I dunno. Maybe Lucas has become too commercialised, but the prequels do fall way short of the original trilogy.
But the important thing to remember is that however supremely cool Star Wars is, it's still his franchise (so he can do what he likes with it) and it's still just fantasy ;)

If GL decides to make the fianl three movies, I say we band up, and sevearly beat him to death. He murdered the orignal three movies when he came out and did episode 1&2. And now I dread what 3 is going to be like. My theory: lucas was captured by the evil brain slugs of the zebular nebula, and they have taken over his brain in their evil attempt at runing all things great, and scifi!!! We must stop them now!!! Don't let them take away our great scifi programs!!!!

    OK, I'm done

I think you're right ! I mean this is what i have read on some Star Wars pages...

Episodes 1 & 2 brought new fans to the Star Wars myth. Those new ones for most of them haven't ever seen a minute of Episodes 4, 5 or 6, or sometimes didn't like them, "too old" (I know 2 people like "that")... They just want special effects and entertainment, but the original Star Wars' "knighthood" desappeared...

They'll be really happy if 3 other movie are produced, they'll buy (or have bought) the two first DVDs and the third in few years, producers are happy too, they'll go to the movies, producers will be very happy, they'll buy the 3 new DVDs, producers will be very very happy ! :naughty:

But most of Episodes 4, 5 & 6 fans will do the same, I'll do (except buying DVDs), they are curious ! But not with the same joy the others do... :(

When a myth becomes marketing...

PS : excuse for mistakes ! :worried:

You know, we al like to look back at the 'good old days', which is fair enough. However I often think modern sequels (prequels, whatever) get a lot more criticism than they deserve. That's not to say the new films are perfect, it's just that the original films weren't.

Of course there is hammy acting in the latest films, but what did you expect?

You have fairly shallow acting from the supporting cast -but the acting from the supporting cast in the originals was also pretty shallow. It's a Science fiction film!!

You have an adolescent in an american film, and it's all "it's not fair, i'm going to sulk". Anyone think that's a novel concept? I dont. They had to show the Anakin character growing, and to be fair it's not that unrealistic.

And if I hear one more person mention excess CGI I will personally go find an old-skool polystyrene rock and tw*t them about the head with it!!

As far as any future films go, no offense to the honourable GL, but I reckon the Star Wars universe is sufficiently developed to be able to string something decent together on it's own.

And that's another thing - please bear in mind that most fans have seen the movies (many times no doubt), and also played the games, read the books, etc, etc. So they have had their own mental image all worked out for years. Now a studio comes along and tries to please everyone. It's not gonna work! For example, Le Tordu - you mention the 'knighthood' thing - is that really in ep4-6? Or is that from all the surrounding Star Wars stuff? If I'm wrong, and it's in the film, could you clarify?

It's exactly the same for the Matrix, Terminator 3, etc, etc. I know some old-timers that absolutely refuse to watch LOTR because they do not want hollywood images white-washed across their own mental images from the book. Which is fair enough - even I kinda wish I could have separated the two experiences!

EDIT - one thing I would agree with is the fact that episode I at least was aimed at a new audience. Sure, but can you blame them? And if you want any chance of a LOTR-scale extravaganza for any future films you need the box-office figures!!

Let me be clear, I am not perfect, I may have missed something; this is just my opinion. I'm sure you guys will comment :D
