Who plays it?

Any tips, I know its an old game but im actually gonna give it a go as Ive never played it!

I think il enjoy it! !

Hi I play starcraft, well i used to play it. My Internet connection has been disconnected so for the moment i cannot play it. what do you wanna know?

 

I play. I can't afford a LAN so I direct cable connect (DCC) my two computers to play. It's my only game that runs on XP and supports DCC.

I've spent weeks playing that game.

 

Just wondering if anyone wants to play across the net thats all, when ive actually completed the campaigns!

 

I play and I think im pretty decent. Probably deleted now but my rec used to be something like 217-17-3. That game is the shizzle. You have the xpan "brood wars" correct?

Couple tips for online play:
-You can almost never have enough men on minerals. I find it best to have 1.5-2 drones/probes/scvs PER mineral patch
-ALWAYS upgrade! This is a biggy the many people overlook
-You minerals should always be low as you should always be pumping units

 

get used to being ownd by zerg when you first start playing online.

I use to live and breath that game. The cinematics are superb and the story is one of the best. Imo its prob the only RTS that requires strat. You could have the biggest army and get wasted by a guy half the size because he uses good tatics. Shame battle net has gone a bit down hill. when i was first on 56k it was great but now its practically unplayable on 56k. I get the same lag on BB as i did back 3 years ago on 56k.

 

I have to agree with Ron Weasley, but you dont have to agree with ToMmEh. You wont get rushed by zerg if you do the following:

With Terran: Start collecting money with the four default scvs. On $50 make new scv. Till you get 7. Save 150 and make baracks. Save 100 and then make silo. then pump out marines. When rushed kill the zerg with your scvs and let the marines be backup. The scv will take a bigger battering than your marines. Keep one scv apart to repair damaged scvs that are killing the zerg. Keep pumping out marines. Save 100 and create bunker. This is how to survive a zerg rush as marines.

With toss:
Create 7 probes and then save 100 for pilon. save 150 for the building needed for making zealots. Create another pilon and then start pumping out zealots (1 zealot can take 2-3 zerg) use your probes to assist your zealot killing zergs.

 

hoipe the 56k lag isnt too bad, I connect at 46k im hoping at praying itl be reasonable, warcaft 3 is fine! !

 

It might have improved since ive not been there for months.

 

doest starcraft have some built in lag adjuster thing that tries to prevent it online, somein like that anyway!

 

Hmm not sure what you mean but it has latency options . High latency increases lag by slightly delaying the click from the mouse. I could be wrong though.

 

Yeah must be the latency thing, all I knew was it had to do with lag!

 

i havn't touch Starcraft for more than 3years now...
i used to be good (zerg owns!!)...i got like 150W/25L/3D
i still have the original CD here...

i got Warcraft3 coz i think i will like it as much as i did with SC, but...
i rarly played...

 

zerging rush is 90% win...but it's toooooo cheap, never used it...
zerg can get 4-6 zergings b4 terran can a marines or toss get a zealot...although travel distance may allows you to get a marine or two...

i used to use mass Mutalisk...
i was able to pump out 2 Mutalisks when 2 zealots/2-3 marines arrive...
then keep making Mutalisk and upgrade until limit (200)...after that, i own!!!!
b4 you get to limit, use the Mutalisks to
defence (don't need to build any colony)
or offence (if suggested as a team)
top population Battlecruisers/Valkyries or Carriers/Corsairs can't get my Mutalisk...

i never met anyone use the same strategy as me...

 

thats one thing i liked about starcraft and not wc3, the limit on units is higher, plus it isnt all hero dependant like wc3.

Something I've newer seen is a Terran who, to defeat a rush, used the fly capability of his Command Center.
