Say what you want about about Blizzard, they know their cinematics.

I'm not a Starcraft mega-fan, but the first game I tried to play during my early teenage years (I was rubbish at it) and the second trilogy was a fun romp that had some interesting missions and excellent interludes. I always had fun.

Also, planned release: 2030. At least they aren't rushing it...

They’re really digging back into the StarCraft franchise lately. I’m literally on my way to go pick my brother up this afternoon and spend a couple of hours playing the StarCraft tabletop miniatures game. I’m also playing through StarCraft II at the moment, mostly because I bought a Founder’s Edition tabletop starter set, but never finished the game that the tabletop adaptation draws on.

One of the first “proper” case mods I did was inspired by StarCraft. Using a StarCraft font, I cut out my initials out of a case side panel. The metal panels had a layer of translucent plastic attached to the outside, so a bit of CCFL backlighting had it shining through the case in a nice StarCraft-appropriate blue light. At the time, I posted a thread about it here many many years ago, which can still be found if one cares enough to search. I’m sure as hell not going to link to it: the images are long since vanished into the electronic ether, and I have no desire to provide direct evidence of how much of a **** I sounded 23 years ago…

Wish this trend of 'cinematic + vague release date far enough in the future as to imply dev work has likely only just started' would do one.

Congrats guys you've announced a cutscene and a vague intention to make a game to go with it, now come back when there's an actual game to show off.

Blizzard's last 5 releases were Diablo IV, Warcraft Rumble, Overwatch 2, Diablo Immortal and Warcraft 3 Reforged.
This will be Blizzard's third attempt at a non-RTS Starcraft after Starcraft: Ghost (cancelled) and Starcraft: Ares (also cancelled).

Forgive me if I struggle to be excited.

However the trailer is excellent, poor chap getting into your first engagement against a bunch of Banelings. Should have sent the resocs in first.... maybe they did.

    Wait, it's not an RTS?

I'm not a Starcraft fan (CnC for me back in the days) but I did play all the SC2 campaign and enjoyed it. When I watched the trailer it gave me the impression of RTS story cutscenes just like SC2.

Funnily enough, I assumed it was going to be "Starcraft 3" but only found out it's going to be an open world FPS after my original post.

I'm still interested, kinda like C&C Renegade maybe.

    Watched this earlier.

Yeah, ok, that’s a neat trailer, got some nice quality CGI there.

But it’s hard to feel anything from a trailer for a game that isn’t coming out for 4 years. It might as well have been a fan project.
