I just received an email from Amazon saying that Starcraft II Wings of Liberty is now available for preorder. amazon.co.uk claims a September 26th release date, but insofar as I can find, there is no set US or international release. Still, that preorders are now permitted, I'm getting eager and optimistic! We're looking at $50 and £30 pricetags - not terrible, but a bit high for what will be a three part trilogy. I know that Blizzard claims that the game price will be reflective of the amount of content they plan on delivering, but still... I'm not going to want to pay $150 for the three campaigns. Perhaps that think that more people will purchase the 1st release and then somewhat ignore the 2nd and 3rd installments.
Add to that, IIRC, approximately a 2 year wait between each of the 3 campaigns. I may be tempted on the first and see how enjoyable that is before investing on the others.
If each third is a good 30+ hours long though, I think it's worth it considering that most game that cost 50$ barely make it past the 20hr mark. Plus you do get the full multiplayer
Instead of slavishly preordering just wait for release and reviews. It's not like your local Tesco/Game/Gamestation won't have a copy around release day...
I would have to go to buy it though. Time better spent playing already. The first new game I will be getting since a long time. I just wish it would appear on Steam.
Who's slavishly preordering? My point is merely that this is a sign that the game, or at least the 1st chaper, might be realeased before the end of this decade.
