K So I finally am throwing down on a diamond plate AT case. On the Inside there will be mad blacklight LEDs and a blacklight CC. I already made a custom mobo tray out of 1/4 inch plexiglass with the LEDs embedded in it(thanks to your help  ).

    My questions are.
Is it cool for the mobo to be directly on brass standoffs screwed into the plexiglass?
I plan on cutting out the original mobo holder and rivot the plexiglass to metal for support... is this ok?
I have a P4 heatsink and fan that I wanna use but would have 4 long thin bolts coming from the 4 holes around the CPU....is this ok?
I want to rivot the plexiglass to the metal instead of the moulding and I want to know if any of you object.

I have a dig camera and plan to take pics and make a log of it so you can see. Not my first mod so I hope it turns out decent this time.

Brass Standoffs on plexi... Should be fine

Rivet away... Tho 1/4 plexi shouldn't need support

Long thin bolts? Don't quite understand this one... If the bolts protrude too far, cut them off w/dremel, make sure the Heatsink is SECURE and TIGHT against the processor.

No objections, Just make it clean...

    Have FUN... Mod away...

For the riveting - obviously check its all sturdy before you trust your mobo to it .. but I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be.

@ the four bolts - do you mean the ones that go into the four holes around the socket; dunno the proper name, but they hold in larger heatsinks. They should be fine as they fit in a metal case with the same size standoffs behind the mobo, so there should be no problems. If it fits in the origional, it should fit in the plexi.

Well they are just long bolts. I was gonna have em be secured from the plexi to the top of the heatsink. I just wanted to make sure metal can touch those areas.

Check to see if the holes are grounded with the little metal ring around them, if not, use an O ring just to be on the safe side.

chances are is that if it is a p4 mobo it has a metal strain relief with threaded holes. You can just get long bolts of the correct thread and do that.

Yeah the holes are grounded. I will get a picture to show you guys what I mean bout that HS. Its not a P4 board but the heatsink I dig is a large Thermaltake Dragon Orb where I put UV reactive paint around the fins for looks.
