Boiled down to the nuts and bolts, simply go to the steam folder and move it wherever you want. Then once you run the steam.exe it will fix any problems and download any files it's missing and hey presto it will just work. No need to muck about with anything yourself and no hassle with missing reg entry or this and that.

I have been moving my steam folder between hard drives and installs for at least 3 years now. Never reinstalling and re-downloading from scratch. Piece of cake.

I've been ready to do it for about 4 years, just never got around to it
I just like discs make me feel more in control than having some thing I paid for off site and out of my hands.

    What Is this pes-Ahem??:eyebrow:

And thank you all for the help boys and girls, it's been a great help.

So far I only own one game...lol But once the collection starts to build up, I'll back them up. I always have an external to back every thing up on so I'm running duplicate back ups just in case the other back up fails.

Now the countdown to when you purchase Counter Strike Source begins. Here's something you may also find interesting, with you being new to Steam you may want to have a look, Steam can have it's UI changed to look more pleasing (I prefer the old green) although beware of updates which may render any new skins installed useless, simply make sure you backup the original UI files if you do decide to play with it. It's easy enough just to pop them back in and your steam will be back to normal and continue to make use of any updates for the UI.

Here's the forum discussion; Steam Skins

    +1 I'm proud of you :p

You'll find Steam so convenient... can't lose/damage your game discs, awesome sales all the time, access to free games & demos, news, trailers/screenies all in one place, great community, the list goes on.

I think the main thing that stopped me doing it sooner is having all my game on the Xbox and having to get them all gain in PC format.
