It seems some more info on SteamOS have surfaced on the SteamDB, along with some shots of the interface. http://steamdb.info/blog/34/
Might give it a go. It's weird on little keir's PC. Windows performance is a bit slow, but games are fine.
Unofficial torrent is up http://steamdb.info/blog/35/, because, as always, official sources are down.
Do you ever get that weird dislocated feeling that you're living in the future? Every time I hear "Steambox coming soon" or "SteamOS now in BETA" I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. I might install this on a netbook/laptop with HDMI out just to try the streaming from my gaming rig. AFAIK the streaming from a PC isn't running yet. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamuniverse#announcements/detail/1930088300965516570

This and Chromecast should be all I need to render terrestrial TV pretty useless. Assuming I eventually obtain a decent broadband line of course.
Here are Valve's 12 Steam Machines partners (so far) http://www.engadget.com/2014/01/05/valve-steam-machines-third-party-support/
That link doesn't work from here... If that list of restrictions is accurate then SteamOS has massively gone down in my opinions...
