I would hold off on Bulletstorm at the minute (it is a great game, don't get me wrong), it uses GFWL and with the service shutting down end of July you could end up with a digital coaster. There has been no talk of whether GFWL will be getting removed from it unfortunately.

Rage had a lot of promise for me just the sort of game I wanted to play but the damn thing kept dropping to 1fps when you changed map locations, drove me nuts and couldn't find a fix.

There is a lot of confusion online about if the service is coming down or not. Microsoft have made announcements and then pulled them, one of the top guys from the Halo franchise said on twitter that it isn't going to be shut down.

That being said games and devs are dropping the service like no tomorrow, so maybe they know for certain.

Bulletstorm is an excellent game however, so I'm sure there will be a workaround or a community mod to sort it out if it does become broken due to GFWL.

The game had been pulled from Steam a while ago. Surprised to see it back with the sale! Have no idea if this version has been fixed or not. That said there is a DRM free option called piracy! Not an advocate but it did allow me to play Metro 2033 that I bought but couldn't install due to Steam DRM of all things.

Yeah I noticed that, could of been completely unrelated though.

Really? Can't recall reading about any issues with Metro 2033 DRM, isn't it a Steamworks title?

Don't know. There's a number of people experiencing the same unresolved issue though!

I was also tempted, but the full game release date is only in a few months, so I'm going to hold off until then. Kickstarted games with Steam early access tend to be very pricey while in Alpha/Beta and then the price drops sharply shortly after the official release.

That's a good point, it's supposed to release soon anyway so I'll keep any eye on it.

I know, its pretty crazy. I wish XLiveless would work for more games, generic type thing where it removes the need. It does still say on the Bulletstorm store page activation through GFWL so nothing has been done as of yet and EA are being very quiet about it.

You can use an offline profile on the game, pretty sure you have to activate it first though before it will allow that, think I'm going to install my disc copy this afternoon and get it activated just incase. Played through it a few times now and enjoy it every time I go through it, it deserves to be saved from GFWL and transferred over to Steamworks or DRM free (or both).

A nocd may sort out the activation thinking about it, so you could use one and then just tell Steam not to update the game in its properties so it doesn't keep changing the files back.

I also find it a little strange that it was removed from the store page and now it has returned, maybe this is a sign that they are actually going to do something with the game.

Steam summer sale 3 days old and I have not bought a thing. Very unusual.

Bought Contagion. All's right with the world.

The Swapper and Monaco. Have behaved myself so far as there's at least £50+ worth of games in the sale I want so far!

To start with? Click the map under "Summer Adventure" and then the Getting Started button.

If you mean change team, you buy/trade a Team Token but they go for silly money.

I noticed this on another forum, which explains why certain teams win by a clear margin on certain days. Each team focuses on crafting on two days specific during the sale and therefore wins easily.
