Modding Stereo jack

    On my buddies card you can actually in the software that came with it configure what the different jacks do..... line in, line out, front, back, right, left, center, bass, mic, speaker, headphone.

    Even though that doesn't help me a bit, it sounds useful. What card is that?

    My card is a really old SoundBlaster ISA card... I don't think it has any center outputs. I guess it is the Line output which I have to amp myself. So now I'm wondering; how do I build an amp? I have an IC, LM389N (Low voltage audio power amplifier with NPN transistor array). Can this be used? Does anyone have schematics?
