I'm looking at setting up my first WC setup - its for a server and will only cool a non OC'ed setup.

how is the "Stormcool III WaterCooling Kit"? for £79 its got to be good value but is it worth it? the other setup I'm looking at is about £273 (if I get the res and rad I want) - I'm thinking thats fine for an OC'ed game rig but a bit of a waste for a server?

I'm not familiar with the stormcool system but judging from the price, I'm not sure it's worth it. Low end water kits usually perform worse than decent cheapish air cooling setups. If you're just wanting it to be quiet, zalman stuff with quiet fans would be a better bet.

I have got one behind me that needs to be reviewed. For socket A you need to Epoxy the block to the NB :eyebrow: very very bad imo!

The pump also looks crap, tiny tubing, tiny blocks, smells funny...

epoxy does sound very bad, the combined pump/res looks the worst I've ever seen.

The only reason this is a cosideration is the server it will be cooling is a DURON 1600, PcChips M848ALU with 256MB DDR333 PC2700 value ~ £70

I would never consider this kit for a 'real' machine but the £79 +possibly an upgrade to the res and pump.

I'm just not sure I should be spending much more WCing that kind of spec?

.27c/w... you can beat that with just about any thermalright sink imho. However, there's no way you can beat good kits with one of those (want to challenge 0.08 c/w?)
