    Hi Guys,

Firstly let me say Hi to you all, Im new to these here forums although Ive been using the Geeks website for a while now, so easy with the flaming eh

Anyhaw, problem I have is that I have just just put together a machine, specs are:-

    ECS nforce3a mobo
    Radion ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 pro
    Sempron 2800 processor
1 GB of 3200 corsair memory
    200 GB maxtor SATA drive
    2 sony DVD Burners

Right this is the strange bit. I have stuck it all tohether and installed XP Pro SP2 on there along with all the standard software that comes with such a GFX card. The computer works fine apart from this.

When I turn the machine off and boot it up for the first 2 or three times it will boot fine but hang after 30-40 seconds. Each time I do this It will hang but after 2 or 3 resets the problem resolves itself, I have checked the logs for these periods, but all would appear fine.

Any ideas on how to resolve this or even to point out how I can find out what is happening would be great.

hmmm it could be a clocking problem, you havent forced your bios settings to aggressive or anything like that have you, or even overclocked ?

If you have try lowering it a bit and try again. Secondly you can test out the ram make sure its in working order, my mate has this problem and it was his ram. Download memtest and/or prime95 and run some ram tests on those to make sure its in working order.

Try booting into safe mode rather than "normal" windows and see what happens. If this works fine, then its probably a driver issue somewhere :)

Thanks Zappa, I will try that memtest thing. I have a funny feeling that may be cause. I have messed about a bit with the hardware disconnecting and reconnecting all the bits individually.

It is doing pretty much the same thing each time now. On a cold start it will almost get to the Windows welcome screen and reboot itself. It will then start up normally 2nd time round and after 2mins (approx) will do the same thing reboot. Third time though problem seems to disappear.

As I said tho I will try the memtest thing and see what happens. Will probably be back with more issues though :waah:

    :D

BTW aint been clocking it at all, standard BIOS settings.
