    Once again another cryptic title,
A simple question with probably a very complicated answer.

I have just bought an XDA Exec which is brill after you get rid of all the O2 bundled junk, but once again you are unable to open music/videos straight from a network, you need to copy them to the device then play them. :(
So i have been using windows media encoder to stream things across my lan wirelessly. But of course then you are limited to whatevers in your playlist etc etc... Then im not sure but i believe you need to sit through the whole playlist to get what you want?
I have LOTS of media. im talking hundreds of gigs of stuff recoded from my Media Centre and Music.
Basically im wondering if there is a plugin for wither IIS or WMS or both to produce a web interface to control media services, allowing you to choose the directoyr you want to run media from and then the media. Does such a thing exist or am i asking for software that isnt about yet again?

    Thanks,
    Ben

This only works for music to my knowledge but i use this to stream my music to school so i can listen while working. Has a nice web interface too, easy to control all of the music and even searching/sorting options. The program is called Slim Server. Its made to stream music to their special boxes but you dont need one to use the free software, its basicly just the external ip of the computer its on plus :9000/media.mp3 (im pretty sure, havent used it since i got my mp3 player) so you would evter XX.XX.XX.XX:9000/media.mp3 into wmp or winamp and then XX.XX.XX.XX into your internet browser for the web control. Works great and its sweet. Sorry i couldnt help about the movies tho, maybe it can, i havent tried.
