Sadly though I think that this will just show that DRM'd music does work and people don't care.
    Perhaps.

Nice idea, but yeah I refuse to ever pay for anything with restrictive drm or support any store that uses it. Sorry. Maybe through another site that doesn't use drm, but not through itms.

This might have worked better through an independent store, currently it's a case of
"we don’t like the way you sell music, and in protest we think everyone should buy something from you and give you lots of cash"

Mind you if this kind of protest kicks off, I’ll be organising the "whisperwolf is a greedy corporate whatsit and in protest we should send him cash" day.

I love how nobody's pointing out the bleeding obvious. Might this just be some unpopular band trying to jump on the anti-RIAA bandwagon and make some money in the process?

TheSaladMan, yes maybe but I really don't think they will make enough to retire if thats what you are thinking they might make a few grand but that's nothing, they don't seem to get very much money anyway..."will net us 5% in affiliate fees from Apple on top of the 50% donation from the band"

Lazarus Dark seriously 79 pence - I could go into Bristol Centre and find that in 1 and 2 pence's on the floor its really not very much money.
As for me i've bought it :)

It's not about how much money you make on the day though, it's about spreading the name of your band and maybe making those oh-so-bad record companies notice you.

It's pathetic self promotional rubbish and i'm disppointed you're pushing it Wil. Especially as they're a band that have already been signed to a major record label - how about you give a totally unknown band a helping hand. Or, if they'd made a generic, buy-what-independent-choon-you-want day then maybe i could see the point.

Bah, i could rant for a week on this.

Yeah i'm interested why this is front page news? Seems like blatant pimpage which isn't considered etiquette on the forum never mind on the front page.

I think I'm in the majority here - how is this anything other than clever marketing on the part of Black Lab?

Oh, and Bit-Tech whoring themselves out for..... Wait - what is bit-tech getting out of this deal? Are you whoring for nothing? Or, maybe you're just whoring for page hits....

As said above by others, I'm not sure exactly why this made it to the front page....

Nice idea, but of course to get involved we'd all have to sign up to itunes.

    And that would be foolish.
