Well a lot of people on here when they need to study ask the moderators to ban them for a week or so to insure they don't get tempted. Maybe you should consider that?

If you want some real advice, study away from the PC completely. Get everything you need and go to a different room in your house so that you're not distracted by it. Don't work too hard, so study for 30 minutes and then take a 10 minute break to get a drink, or go for a short walk.

The best way to remember things really depends on the individual and what you're trying to remember. What are you studying for?

Hopefully by exams I'll have a laptop, hence I'll be pulling this one apart so there's no way I can play the games on it. :p

Unplug the computer, give the power cable to your parents, and tell them to keep it for a few weeks.

Get some self control? Later in life nobody will make you work, you will sink or swim all by yourself and if you're going to university next year you need to be able to manage your time yourself.

    I don't study.
I stare at the computer screen until 2am.
I don't do my homework until 2am and finish it right before class.
    I sleep in class.
I leave most of my books at home and never open them.

    I'm a bad example :)
But I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA and got my IB diploma, so go figure :hehe:

But on a serious note (as the above pertains to me really, and most likely won't work for you), many of my friends do the following:

    Work for 30mins
    Take 10min break
    Work for 30mins
    Take 10min break

And they say it works pretty well, as most people don't have a very long attention span, and not many can study for hours and hours at a time, I know I can't study for more then 5mins :p

And um, I agree with Moriquendi, you better start disciplining yourself with time management and forcing yourself to do things even if you don't want to. You can't get anywhere in life if you just let things happen and slack off, and don't do ****. Life's a bitch, so's work, but you need both, sucks don't it? Rightly so :)
Live or die more or less. Make your choice ;)

Or still use the computer, but use it as a study tool, with a user account with games and the like locked out. Worked for me back when I was doing GCSE's.

Dang that was a fair amount of time ago...

Nowadays if I have something important to do, I use my laptop, which has my music on it, office, and the interwebnets, but no games, or vids to distract me

    @cpemma - congrats on over 10,000 posts. Spamwhore :D

leave all the studying to the last minute so that you get so stressed out over it that you can't sleep. then you will find yourself very motivated.

just, uh, force yourself to concentrate. all this 'lock your account stuff is ********, as you'll just work around that anyway. just force yourself to have self control. remember that school years are over all too quickly, and are all important in getting that awesome job.

Staring at the cover of the books doesn't help so it seems... And I have an exam in 4 hours...

Ah well, time to invent stuff ;)

EDIT: actually not invent, just talk your way out of hard questions... (I love oral exams...)
