OK, I want to get various bits n bobs so I have a collection of stuff to play with. What do people suggest I get? I do have a PIC Programmer (somewhere....), so suggestions for those would be welcomed. Also fancy gimmicks like that touch sensitive IC switch thingymajib... I don't have that much already (well, its all *somewhere*), apart from stuff like cheap solldering iron, multimeter etc which i've got...
In my farnell shopping list so far, I have: Thermistors Single/Dual 555 IC's Protoboard wire 5/12V IC regulators (a.k.a. mosfets) + heatsinks ic sockets Qprox sensors (for a touch sensitive lightswitch ) 22nF capacicators Resistors Capcactors 3mm red LEDs LED holders Switches Relays Ferric Chloride, photoresist paper, and UV light Total, about £100... Anything else ppl can suggest?
5W Luxons Mwhahahah Or more seriously a load of standard transistors... Always useful. Also as your getting some PCB stuff what about some SMD components, always fun.. and then you may want a finer tip for your soldering iron. On that note what about some fine solder. Rod
I'd appreciate some tips on what would be a good range of transistors to get? I've got 'kits' of resistors and capicators (can never spell it sorry...) for most common usages, but can't find anything similar for transistors. RS/Rapid (or Maplin, at a push...) part codes would be great. Ahh yes, SMD components, forgot those Will add some Talking of Luxeons these are tempting Anyone want to con me into a good use for one? ;o)
There's someone that modded a 1watt Luxeon into his mouse in the Modding forum . Or light up yer PC, like i did Don't get the emitters unless you want to design your own cooling solution, get the Stars.
of the oscillo variety? Personally, I want ~600 million transistors, specifically in the form of two 6800GT PCIEs and an A64-939 Plus however many are in an NF4-SLI chipset and accompanying motherboard parts.
100 of each component, passive and active, from your local electronic store. Though a scope is real nice to have, epecially one that is handheld and can connect up to your computer.
I don't know about a range really, but the BC547/BC557 (npn/pnp) and BC639/BC640 and BD437/BD438 and TIP120/TIP125 covers a range of current consumption. And they are all the "best buy option" in each their power class I keep a supply of MC1413 (pnp 500mA driver array), ADM232JR (RS-232 interface chip). I'm also looking into MOSFETs SMDs, as they seem to offer "the best value for the price" in the <10Amp range. Well I'll not suggest any uses, but rather suggest you check out this store, as they seem to be abt. half price (as well as including a small heatsink) at this address http://shop.dotlight.de/shop/index.php/cPath/159_160 Generel comment Gadget parts for christmas!!! What a great idea Too bad I already got my christmas allowance of gadget parts last month (see that ring on my finger? Yes, I'm on a gadget allowance plan) May I'll be able to sneak a few good items from you list in with "january sales" hype Ups, almost forgot, check out the QTxx touch sensitive chips
Thanks Those look good - added those And I did already have the QTouch ICs on my list ... £100 already *sigh*. Plus a copy of LiveWire (another £30...) oh dear. Heh.
