Just visited the VIA site and was wondering: Does VIA stand for Very Inovative Architecture by any chance? Couldn't find it on their homepage... Cheers Fred
That's not a stupid question at all.... .A stupid question would be this: You know on shampoo bottles where is says "Lather, Rinse Repeat"? Does it mean repeat right away, or next time you take a shower? Back to your question, You might be right with the acronym. I did a google search and came up with nothing. Hopefully someone here might know.
I never seen a question like that but now that I have, I'm interested by the answer. Just to be clear it means next time you take a shower right? (iam not stupid, i just want to be clear)
I looked up VIA on wikipedia and it doesn't seem to explain what VIA stands for. However someone has already asked the question the article's discussion page so hopefully someone will come along with an answer to that someday.
Dear god Fred, you've really opened up a can of worms here I'm very curious what ATI and VIA stand for now. I'll just keep repeating "AMD = Advanced Micro Drivers" in my head and I'll be content.
I thought that question up in highschool, when my teacher said that there are no such things as stupid questions.
I believe that ATI is a recursive acronym - Advanced Technologies Inc. It's the same with PHP, which stands for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor. AMD is Advanced Micro Devices, not Drivers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATI_Technologies ATI is an acronym for Array Technologies Incorporated Nothing on VIA though.
lol ATI Technologies - Array Technologies Incorpirated Technologies If you don't get why that's funny, you can find the answer hidden in the DOS operating system currently loaded onto your RAM memory from your HDD drive. _C
A couple of weeks ago I was in the building society with my Dad and he managed to say "PIN Number" and "ISA Account" in almost the same sentence.
I thought it was funny because you said IncorPIRATED since it is talk like a pirate day. I hadn't thought about the redundancy until later
PIN = Personal Identification Number ATM = Automatic Teller Machine(IIRC) VCR = Video something Recorder LCD = Liquid Crystal Display Not sure about DAT, but I'm sure that's an easy one too. All of those could be found with a quick google I'd imagine, but many will know them anyway. I don't see the recursive part of that, I am beign stupid tonight, but I don't see ATI anywhere in Advanced Technologies Inc., unlike say, Wine, which = Wine Is Not An Emulator, that's a recursive acrynom surely?
